Hi guy first im sorry for my english, im from Cyprus and i dont really speak proper english but i will try my best in order to be clear enough even if i have to use Google Translate i will :D

Im about to make an upgrade of my ring, im curently having a HD6850 and i will like to upgrade it. Due to my limited budget i cant afford the latest NVIDIA 770/780 or event an AMD HD7970 but somehow i can afford either 670 or 7950:)

Please i will like your help and advice concerning both cards, which is best for performance ( i heard that the new AMD drivers bumps 79xxx series card and made them better and way faster than before in a way that a 7970 is now faster than a GTX680 is that true?) and what about 670 Vs 7950 ? which one is better on almost every game (in terms of FPS smoothness etc) for the price they are about the same so im not really worry about that. Also which one can OC Better and give me the most of performance ( i when trough a couple website and i read some reviews but must have them were not update :( )

Also im thinking to choose one between those 2 depending on your feedback guys please

aslo what is the best brand/model for OC for both 670/7950 ?
sorry im a noob here that why i ask a lot of questions ;)

Cheeerssssss

I have no experience with a 670, but I just purchased that exact same 7950 earlier this week and it is a beast!

It has overclocked to over 7970 speeds with ease and it runs incredibly cool aswell.

No brainer, in my opinion :)

I have a 670, runs nice, overclocks ok, a bit faster than a 7950 , but with the free games you get with the 7950 it is a lot better value for money. with the 670 at the moment you get Metro last light and splinter cell games. with the 7950 you get 8 games.

There is very little difference in performance overall. But red and green camp perform differently in different games. SO, check benchmarks for the games you play. The current bundle of games with AMD cards is very tempting though imo :)

Edit: Just looked at the cards you listed. The MSI 7950 Twin Frozr were having LOTS of issues a couple months back. Mainly manufacturing faults. I had 3 and all of them were faulty and had to be returned. I'm sure someone will be along to say they are fine now but just something to consider. It would be a pain in the ass if you had to return it from Cyprus.

IIRC the new revision referred to the fans being fixed. There was an issue with them running at 100% speed constantly :p

One of the ones I had was running fine for 1 day and performance was great. But it quickly started artifacting and then died. Lovely looking cooler though..

I'm sure MSi have got their game together but I'm not sure I would take a gamble. Perhaps there are safer bets?

I have heard great things about http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-065-HS

indeed this is true some capacitor or something would go and the fans would run 100% if the card hit in the 60c ish mark, so hopefully the new revision would be the fix for that card

As somebody who used both throughout last year, I recommend the 7950 over the 670 unless you like 3d vision. Both cards are so close that there's nothing in it clock for clock.

The 7950 has the advantage of more ram of course and the games bundle gives it a massive advantage. That's my opinion.

I am using 670's buy the way.

Thank you all again BTW i really learnt a lot today and i appreciate :)

Just checked the list of qualifying AMD cards here http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18524382

According to that list the HIS 7950 I linked also qualifies for the games bundle :)

So do you guys prefer this one instead of the MSI? anyone used HIS before are they Rock solid? :) because i heard some good stuff about MSI card but i dont mind choosing another brand as long as it ROCK :D

If you have brand loyalty for MSI I think that card will be fine. But I have only read positive reviews of the HIS one i linked and I've personally had lots of experience with the MSI cards being shoddy

I would go for the 7950 as well and this is coming from someone with Gtx 670 sli. As it stands right now the amd cards are of better value unless you really like Physx, as already mentioned

OP, your English is better than most native posters here :p I'd get a 7950 with a nice bundle of games but avoid a Maybe Something Incorrect card to be honest

Ok thank you a lot guys seriously i will go for a 7950 then
