Ibiza

I been ibiza past 5 years and never been out in the west end.

I stay at bora bora, go beach party during the day and clubbing at night.

I have been to over 30 countries and nothing touches ibiza for the clubbing experience.

Yeah but still, that was just my dig at modern music :p

My point still stands, I could never justify spending £1000+ to go away, get smashed and not remember half the weekend.

You can do that here for £75 and it all ends the same, sore head and a puke bucket lol.

Having been to Ibiza a few times... you can either do the crazy clubbing experience or you can do it in a more civilized fashion with cool activities. It has world-class restaurants with sea food to die for, and activities such as fishing mountain biking, boating, diving, watersports etc etc.

Having never been there and just simply viewing it as somewhere to go and get trolleyed, you clearly just aren't aware of that fact.

That is normal spending for ibiza.

I allocate 200euro per day. Thats club ticket, food, beer for night plus whatever else i end up doing.

Altho I went in July 2011 which was my 3rd time (should have known better), i ended up getting plastered at Bora Bora as soon as we landed, i didnt even undo my suitcase. I then went to Privilege straight after some wired night, forget the name of it.

Anyway check money in the morning and id done about 200euro in bora bora and another 150euro in the club.

Morale of the story dont drink........... lol

Yep drinks get pricey. We managed to get up onto the roof of Ushuaia Tower on tuesday last week for the after party, it was great, an exclusive party of only around 150 people, we were literally dancing next to the DJ's! (Luciano, if you know who that is ;))

Anyway I bought a Vodka RedBull up there...it was 25 Euros :eek::D

2002 - £700 hotel, flights and spending moneys - 7 nights
2003 - £900 hotel, flights and spending moneys - 7 nights
2004 - £1000 hotel, flights and spending moneys - 7 nights
2007 - £1200 no hotel (stayed on sofa in a villa), flights and spending moneys - 4 nights

Never been back, I want to but not until I can truly afford it again.

I'm 21 so still of an age to be one of these 'ravers' but I'd much rather spend my money on going somewhere cool/different. Went to Vegas last summer whilst most of the rabble on my Facebook were doing the generic Zante/magaluf type affair.

Obviously just the cost of a flight to Vegas is probably what some people pay for a whole Ibiza type trip but still.

Just got back from playa den bossa. Awesome week away with a great atmosphere about the place, Guettas opening party was electric. Met loads of new people and rarely got in before 6am. It was nothing like I expected. I expected the usual Brits on tour crap but it wasn't evident. Going off peak season helps too

Stay away from San Antonio and all is good. Ive never seen so many good looking people in one place, especially the hot Spanish ladies.

It is expensive and you will spend a lot but I'd rather party my money away and sit on beaches than spend it on ski lifts and overpriced beers.

I was in Egypt for two weeks in May so I now look like I have changed race :D

San Antonio Bay (West End) is a complete dump, it's like Blackpool on steroids. Other areas are quite nice mind.

As for the original OP, holidays 'back in the day' used to be somewhere hot to get plastered and chase women. Nowadays, i'm very much in the culture mould for summer, and snowboarding in winter.

Few beers chucked in here and there, naturally, but it's not the main reason for going away anymore.

Went a couple of years ago, after doing Vegas a few times, travelling, etc. Still loved it. All about the crowd you go with tbh

My idea of a holiday is usually something along these lines:

+Temperate climate i.e. 15-30C
+Decent looking accommodation (I'm a sucker for hotels with grand reception areas) with mod cons (big tv, wifi, bath)
+Historical / cultural attractions
+Bright, vibrant cities over sleepy suburbs
+Beautiful views (coastal, or places where you can get elevated and overlook vistas)
+Decent public transport i.e. train/bus/metro etc for exploring neighbouring areas
+Preferably somewhere where I speak a bit of the language or the locals are likely to speak English
+Good food
-Sitting on a beach in the sun for days on end is definitely not my idea of a holiday, I don't mind it for a couple of hours but I get bored.

If I'm honest my favourite holidays have all been city breaks... Sydney, New York, Florence etc.

As for Ibiza, I'd like to go as I was heavily into trance music around the turn of the century. My wife would never let me though :)
