oh come on it was hardly an insult, he's gonna think i called him something nasty now :p

not sure how accurate this is but it's quite shocking if true. greedy gits

A couple of weeks ago, Croatian reports were rife that Tottenham had pulled off a real coup in signing Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Alen Halilovic as well as team mate Tin Jedvaj for a combined fee of 20 million euros.

Today, the same Croatian media has revealed the deal is off and the Croatian teenagers won’t be heading to White Hart Lane.

Spurs’ offer of 20 million euros was accepted by Dinamo Zagreb but the north London side failed to agree terms with Alen Halilovic’s family.

According to reports in Italy, Halilovic’s family were after a wage of 1.2 million euros a year plus a house for his family to live in and school fees for his two brothers.

Tottenham only proposed 800,000 euros a season and a house, so Halilovic’s family pulled the plug on the deal.

The deal with Halilovic, believed to be for the majority of the payment, broke down yesterday.

Meanwhile, the transfer Tin Jedvaj also appears to have fallen through with Roma believed to be keen on signing the young defender.

We've just signed a 37 year old Spanish right back who was playing in La Liga last season  Didn't see that coming. Imagine going from Barcelona away one season, to Port Vale away in League One the next!

Vale park is the Wembley of the north :D

Tin Jedvaj signs for Roma for €5M

Lots of rumours that Thiago has gone to / is going to Bayern.

Not sure he is going to get the minutes he wants there compared to us, considering the team they have just basically destroyed everyone in sight...

Haha. It looks like he's joined in order to get away from a country where the football is being heavily influenced by the declining economy. He get's a shot at moving his family to somewhere less shaky, where he can learn a new language, get his coaching badges and potentially open up loads of new avenues for once his playing career comes to end. Which is great, but he played 15 times for Villarreal last season, whereas our first game is at home to Dagenham and Redbridge!

I wish I could make something that takes four sentences last about 12 paragraphs like you do, but I lack the skill so I'm just going to ask again why Frankfurt's sporting director would personally thank Wenger regarding the negotiations if he was being a little bitch and trying to squeeze out another million or two?

Firstly I asked which was more likely and I pointed out several reasons why you don't burn bridges when you don't need to. Secondly Wenger has needlessly tried to wrangle more for players to the tune of losing them on free transfers YEARS later after millions lost in wages multiple times. I simply said that he may have asked for say 8mil, Frankfurt thought they could swing it, but when it came down to it they couldn't afford it. Other transactions happen, owners decide they don't want to spend the money.

Again I'll point out, if manager A prices a player at any value, another manager doesn't automatically hate that manager because he can't afford it. But you keep making it about me and disliking Wenger, ignore what I say, ignore whats been said about the deal and make up whatever you want.

From your own quotes and links, the rumour is a WAGE was agreed and Bendtner was happy to take a pay cut... but you automatically blame him and without going back to check,(it may have been a diff Arsenal fan on here) have a go at him for being arrogant and greedy.... when the only proof you've found is a rumour which suggests he was happy to leave and take a pay cut.

I suggested based on Wenger's history over the past 5 years, that he was asking for too much. You're using the fact that someone was civil and had no problem with Wenger to instantly mean the transfer fee was acceptable. If 3 guys sit down for a meeting, they ask Bendtner to take a pay cut, he does, and ask Wenger for lets say a £4mil transfer fee, and Wenger says he wanted £6mil and won't come to £4mil, they negotiate, Wenger won't come down far enough, the deal is called off.... thats business... explain why you would be angry or hate or have a public go at Wenger because you dont' agree on the value of a player.

I haven't actually anywhere said anything besides Wenger asking for too much money, I haven't called him a nasty piece of work, or going back on his word or doing anything untoward. Some managers seem to get away with it, some of the fees Benitez got while at Pool were hilarious, as were our players to City. You don't get if you don't ask, but there are players to try and make money on and players to get rid of.

We've seen managers can a big name to make way for someone they trust(or just someone new) before to make a statement, and managers bring in a player they trust just to have someone on the team doing what he wants.

its odd though because Thiago is 22, he promoted Pedro, Tello, Thiago and others to the first team and barely used Thiago for 2 years, then only used him largely because Xavi and Iniesta had been used so extensively through the summer and the previous season coupled with Villa's injury. You would think someone like Pedro who he gave a chance to straight away and used hugely while he was at Barca would be a more "him" type of player.

He's not better than anyone currently at Bayern though in any position he might take, Gotze, Ribery just signed a new contract, Robben could be off in which case he might shove Muller or Gotze wide and played Thiago ahead of Martinez/the Swine sounding guy. Pushing Martinez into defence when they have Dante and, frankly MUCH better cb's there would be mental. He might get starts, but to do so I can't see how Guardiola can do anything but hurt the team to fit him in.

Demba Ba linked to Villa if/when we lose Benteke.

Not sure about this one personally, would imagine his wage demands are high - Benteke is only on 20kpw currently.

Or Spurs allegedly offering £20m + one of Livermore, Parker, Ekottu, Huddlestone - the agony of choice!! I'd take £21m instead of that, personally!

Come on Wenger!!!!!

He cant hear you, hes in the Far east on our pre-season tour:p

Absolutely nothing regarding Arsenal and any transfer activity. Although i did read on skysports that it looks like we may be in for Ashley Williams of Swansea due to Verm's on going back problem. But absolutely nada on Higuain, which makes me think that the deal is most probably off :/

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has admitted that he is a huge fan of potential transfer target Wayne Rooney.

However, Mourinho stressed that Rooney is Manchester United's player at the moment and that he was not very comfortable speaking about the matter.

Rooney's future has been the subject of much speculation this summer, although new United boss David Moyes is adamant that he is not for sale.

The England man, who has had to leave United's pre-season tour due to a hamstring injury, has yet to publicly state that he is happy to remain at Old Trafford, and Chelsea are one of the clubs he has been linked with.

It certainly wouldn't surprise me if they try and sign him, I imagine they'll get him as well if Roman is a fan too. £40m~ should do.

I'm sure he said he wanted to get the players in before the tour :(. So depressing...
