As this gigantic phone has been out for a little while now I thought a thread was in order to collate all our thoughts and info on it.
The Nexus 7 was annoying me no end with its slow downs and unresponsiveness and I thought that the Samsung Galaxy Mega would be the ideal replacement for it.
The phone arrived this morning from Amazon, here are some pictures:

Mega by name and mega by nature, as you can see by pictures the Samsung Galaxy S4 is quite literally dwarfed by the Mega. Using it as a phone will probably look weird when you place this giant slab next to your ear!
I'm going to be using it as a tablet so I'll be sparing myself the embarrassment if I were to make calls with it.
I haven't had much time to run the phone through its paces, physically it's virtually identical to the Galaxy S4 design wise (you can basically call it a giant sized S4) however internally specs are decidedly mid range.
Although the mid range specs do not hinder the performance (as far as I can tell in the short time I've had a play with the phone)
The LCD screen (720x1280 HD - 233PPI) is very pleasant to the eyes and surprisingly good Samsung have done a great job with it, although the colours aren't as saturated and do not pop like they do on its little brother the Samsung Galaxy S4, viewing angles are good as well.
This version comes with 8GB on board storage of which only 4.58GB is available to the user, which is extremely poor it's best to pick up a micro sd card if you have lots of multimedia to transfer to the device - 4GB micro sd card is bundled with the device I guess it's a token gesture by Samsung which is of little use.

It's early days but so far, so good and I'm quite pleased with the Samsung Galaxy Mega. I certainly didn't want or need a high powered phablet and this device suits my needs so far. I just want a device where I can browse the internet, play some games and watch films without the slowdowns and stutter that I endured on the Nexus 7.

As you more or less said, I also would most certainly not like to be seen holding that to my ear!
