Securing a Bicycle at home

How do people secure bikes at home? I'm in a rented house so can't start burying posts or mounting things too walls. I do have a shed, but I don't fancy just leaving £500 of bike in it unsecured.

Any suggestions?

Take it indoors, leave it in hallway/spare room etc. It's what I did when I had a bike.

Hallway is the safest option for security, just a hindrance for space.

I put my bike in the hallway..

why would you want your bike chained up outside getting hammered by the weather?

Become a Muslim Hate Preacher then you'll get a free 24hr 7 days a week Police guard protecting you and all your stuff. No need to put in any posts or drill walls in your rented property and who's going to steal your bike then?

Indoors isn't an option. No space, and a GF who would just move it outside. I dont have a hallway.

Probably overkill for your situation, and expensive, but after 6months of sustained bike theft attempts (and successes) by local scrotes, I got one of these:

Don't put it in the shed. We had two bikes (thousands of pounds worth) stolen from our shed. They're all kept in the spare bedroom now. Ok so storing them is more of a problem for us as we have quite a few bikes between the two of us.

Can you get bike bags? I might be able to keep it in the spare room if its greased bits are covered.

You can. Not sure why you'd need to. I've got five bikes in one of our spare rooms. Never had any problems with the mucky bits.

1 bit of muck anywhere and the bike will be in the shed and ill be on the sofa, lol.

It's such a pain the landlord won't let us use the garage

Aldi occasionally do a bike lift, it's like a set of pulleys that raise the bike to the ceiling.

Installing a ground anchor isn't going to be a problem in a rented house, they might appreciate the free addition.
