Why are games removed from the Steam Store ?

Well I have a couple of games on that list. They worked fine when I first bought them, but now simply refuse to play whenever I try them. Possibly games that dont work on Windows 7 or above? So no point selling them if nobody with a modern system can play them?

Of course there could be other reasons as well.
 
59 dragon age II reoved as it is the scummer game, made by ea, only on origin i think, so it was initially listed on steam then withdrawn before it was ever sold.
Same with mass effect IIi, should have been sold and wasnt
 
I know Prey was removed because they ran out of CD keys to issue and couldn't obtain any more.

Not sure why something like Blur has been removed. I've got that in my account but haven't played in aeons. Maybe they turned the multiplayer servers off now?
 
Lots and lots of reasons, but the most common one is because of confusion over who owns the rights to the game. Steam can't sell a game if the publisher isn't around anymore, or if there is a legal battle over the rights to the game.

Sometimes, games are removed because they are superseded by a better version. For example. Batman Arkham Ayslum and Arkham City aren't available on their own anymore, but you can buy the Game of the Year versions (which ****es off a lot of people even now because some only want to buy particular DLC rather than a whole new version). Football Manager 2008/2009/2010/2011/2012 is a perfect example of this.

Other times, it's because of game-breaking glitches. For example, Anno 1404 has a lot of problems, although in that case it's to do with it's DRM, which Ubisoft haven't bothered to fix, so they don't sell that anymore.

Other times, it's perhaps something in the game that is licensed by someone else, and that license has expired, which prevents it being sold. For example, Outrun 2006. That was available on Steam and XBLA/PSN and now it's not available anywhere anymore because Ferrari's license to allow it's vehicles to be used in the game long ago expired and SEGA has either been unable to renew them, or it's too expensive for them. Lost:Via Domus is another example. Ubisoft's license expired, so now it's not available on Steam either.

Other times... goodness knows why :/ For example, Indigo Prophecy is available on GOG, but not Steam. No explanation for that one.
 
Gothic 3 Forsaken Kings should be removed if some have been due to poor OS support and technical issues. I'm yet to meet anyone who can actually run that game and not be driven mad by the stuttering and technical issues, that ontop of the fact that the only fix (unnoficial patch) conflicts with Steam and makes the game think you don't have any RAM installed ought to get it pulled off the store. Still sore about the fiver I wasted on that game. :p

Fallout 3 is another one, 50/50 on Windows 7, half the users report no issues and the other half can't play it without a crash every 10-20 minutes, I'd of thought Valve would have issued Bethesda with a fix it or we drop it ultamatum, but maybe it doesn't effect enough people negatively to do that. Shame though, I'd love to try out the mod which merges 3 and New Vegas so you can jump in each world.

Both games Never had a problem :P only problem with gothic 3 is the animals are harder then humans or orcs which are easy to wipe out :) at the start
 
I upgraded my PC and went to Win7 at the same time and I also had problems with FO3 crashing all the time after like 5-20mins (had been working fine previously). I always put it down to maybe some sort of instability with my new RAM/cpu overclock, and just stopped playing (I'd put like 70hrs into it and done all DLC and main quest, was just going around cleaning up sidequests). Perhaps it was this weird OS issue, my system was stable in everything else so I couldn't really be bothered troubleshooting it.

Haven't tried it since swapping from AMD to Nvidia, might be better now though as AMD have awful drivers for old/obscure titles.

You're lucky to have put 70 into it, I wanted to play through it again properly (PC experience) but can't. :(
