Just water blocked my 7990

From my experience when i had my 7990 under water my 30MM 120.2 Radiator + 45MM 120.2 Radiator were at their limits of cooling with a 7990 and a i7 3770k

A thick 360 rad should do it fine :)

Those Fans are EXPENSIVE! Why would ANYONE buy them when there are fans that perform just as well for under £6 each?

I will be using the fans I have already. The rad for £50 is nice.

New case and another rad.

All that beautiful gear wrapped up in a bodged together case & loop :(

Splash out a tad more, even if its something like an Elysium or Switch 810 (both will do 360+240 or 420+240).

Once you get enough radiator in the loop you'll be looking around 40c load on both GPU cores.

Money burning hole in my pocket, been eying up cases already :)

What case would you go for under £150 ? Would like to have a 360 rad internal and of course good air flow.

You actually have a fair bit of choice in the £150 price bracket..

NZXT 810
NZXT H630 (I like this case quite a bit for its price!)
Xigmatek Elysium
Corsair 540

I would say Shinobi XL, but its been quite a fail for water unfortunately.

Second hand markets you could probably pick up a Tj07 or 800D for sub £150 too.

Have been eying up the NZXT 810 :)

I gave up waiting for the 900D and bought a switch 810, takes my 360 rad in the roof no problem with plenty of space down below for a 240. I like it.

Now that is good to hear and almost makes my mind up. Do you have any piccies please of the case and rads ?

Just had a round of iRacing on 4 screens.

Max CPU = 60, max GPU = 50 :)

So ok for now, either mining full power or my fav game.

But I am going to get a switch 810 and 360 rad next month.

I was having trouble at Mosport in the L79 last week my 6990 with EK waterblock temps just kept getting hotter and hotter so I just bought a GTX780 and very happy with that as its performance match my 6990+6970.

When I got my EK block at the time they were having problems with plating causing corrosion and seeing as my CPU temps were fine on the same loop I guess I got the corrosion problem with mine.

The 6990 has run fine since new but this last week or 2 its temps were going upto 94c from its usual 60c or so.

ive given the 6990 to a fellow iracer along with the original air cooler so with luck it will be ok with a cooler change.

Fingers crossed I don't get any corrosion problems with my EK block.

OK update : Temps are rising fractionally in the heat of this summer with the sun blazing now directly on my office. 63 degrees whilst full tilt mining.

Definitely need addition rad space :)

I have quad EK rad on mine as the gfx were on the same loop as the CPU.

CPU temps have improved now theres no 6990 in the loop idle temps atm are

31c - 30c - 32c - 32c that's sandy 2600k @ 4.5 and I bet the room temp is nearly that as its very hot today in Nottingham.

EK are fine now im sure m8 it was just a short period a few years back they had some issues with the plating but its long been sorted.

I'll need to create an account somewhere to host them, never bothered trying to post any pictures before but I'll see what I can do.

Is there any chance I could get some advice on water cooling my 7990.
The idea of a quiet 7990 is very appealing.
I have located the block to buy, but what else do I need?? tubing etc and rad.
I am not concerned with cooling my haswell 4770k though. Is there a rad available able to fit the corsair 300r case?
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-063-CS.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

You may as well cool the CPU at the same time.

But if you only want the card, then you will need a pump, res, tubing, barbs, clips, coolant, radiator and of course the graphics water block.

I went for the EK copper block http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=WC-364-EK.

I would look at the XSPC stuff This res and pump along with a 360 radiator http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=WC-011-XS
would be a good starting point.

But to be honest, I would look at the 360 XSPC kit and do the CPU and the GPU at the same time. Check it will fit your case.

I am no expert at specing out kit, so I am sure someone else will come along soon or post your questions in the watercooling section of the forum.

thanks appreciated

OK I got myself organised. Here is the rad in the top of the case RX 360

Plenty of room in the bottom or the front for a 240
