Well not really new as I have had it for a couple of weeks now.

Had a few problems with my last car which kind of forced me into getting something to replace it.

I have been toying with the idea of Impreza and Evo and even though the cars are animals the interiors are a bit, well lacklustre and depressing - coming from a pre facelift leon cupra I know that feeling isnt a good one :D

Coming away from Jap motors I'm pretty much a VAG man and wanted to get something with 4wd. My cupra was stage 1 and it really struggled to get good power down in the wet/damp.

Filtering down from there I knew it was a quattro I would be looking at and managed to drop on an S3 which ticked pretty much all the boxes - RS3 was too much out of mmy price range :(

On with the pics!

If you forced me to buy a hot hatch - a type of car I'm not really into - then it would be an Audi S3. I think they are really nice. That said it'd have to be an earlier one because the later ones cost an eyewateringly stupid amount of money for such an old car.

A suprising choice given your requirement for 4wd coming from an Evo, though. Although its 'Quattro' your research must have told you it's not a fulltime 4x4 system as per your Evo and it doesnt drive like a 4wd car. With this in mind would an S4 not have been a better choice?

Ah right, just like my F10 to be fair so it's obvious really, unless you've just turned 46 old and you mind isn't what it was.....:(

Always liked these, they are definitely on the right edge of classy and subtle. Also think Audi did a very good job when they facelifted the A3, it has aged well for what is now a 10 year old car underneath.

Thanks all :)

They do hold their value very, very well - unfortunate for buying but eases the pain a little when selling.

Yes, the S3 has the haldex system which isnt full time AWD - I'm ok with that to be honest, at least it means their isnt a constant transmission loss with power all the time. I wont be hooning around on a track but I do like to get the power down and it will help when we get snow too lol.

I did look at S4s, which were 3ltr supercharged and I wanted a turbo - RS5s which were NA V8s and not very powerful, I even contemplated an (older) RS6 but the maintenance bills put me off

The DSG box took a bit to get used to as I have always had manual cars but I'm getting used to the paddles on the steering wheel now.

I booked it in for a stage 1 remap and CAI yesterday so that should liven it up a bit.

The goal is to go stage 2+ with it eventually, once the pennies build back up anyway.

Which intake did you decide to go for? I've got the Revo CAI on mine with a shark remap. Stage 2+ i think is really cheap for the end result.

Looks good! Uncle had an RS3 which I liked... until it got nicked :(.

Hearing things like that sucks :(

I have gone for the Revo CAI along with Revo stage 1.

My old K1 was stage one with an ITG and I'm hearing good things about the Revo one.

Is yours stage2+, if so what fuel pump have you gone for?

I'm a big fan of the haldex system. Gives you a 4wd shove when you boot it, but doesn't eat your rear tyres, and maintains better fuel economy than a normal 4wd system. Although, don't go thinking you can go Colin McRae in the snow and mud :P

Mine is only stage one at the moment as I don't want to go further just yet. Want to enjoy it as it is at the moment and wait for the clutch to pack in. I am going to get a pump, Loba or APR are the ones to go for. Auto tech internals are cheaper if your good with a spanner but they are known for eating the cam follower faster.

The Revo intake is very nice with some good gains, very expensive though!

Nice choice. I was really happy with mine when i had it bar the fact the boot was small and it reached the point where I wanted more doors.

Looks lovely, tempted by one of these (albeit an earlier/cheaper one, although I'd love a DSG box) next year I think.

the s3 is a good car, my dad has one, but its a bit boring when its stock it doesn't make much noise and the turbo is too small and runs out of steam at the top. i think with a bit of tuning it could be all good though. i would have bought an older s4 for around the same price super charged V6 sounds nicer than a 4 pot.
