I need some opinions..

I've been looking for a very cheap run around. I will cover 4-5k miles per year, and mainly will do long distances when I do travel, so I thought a big comfy car would be nice.

This is close by and cheap:

Its high mileage, with no service history.

I know these hondas are pretty bulletproof which is why I would even consider one without a history. What do you think?

Worth viewing?

Its cheap enough to be worthwhile going to see. Assume the mileage is false, allow for 4 tyres and take it from there.

I suspect it will be hanging but you won't know till you go look

at this end of the market I'd allow for:

Tyres
Brakes (discs, pads & fluid)
full service (oil, filter, air filter, spark plugs, coolant change, etc)
Air con regas
If applicable, cambelt & water pump

If you can do some/most of that yourself, look into parts at the usual places and price it up.

Add that lot onto the top of the cars price, and see if a car with no history is still a fair price.

All that said, a car with full history could still need most of that doing, so it isn't black/white.

It wont have no service history, whats actually happened is that somebody has lost the history (ie I'd be amazed if nobody had ever serviced it from new).

There is a chance this is because the last owner genuinelly lost it. There is also a chance its been lost because of what it shows. It's a gamble..

Links not working any more but with any vehicle without service history It's always worth getting a full service done after purchase for piece of mind. And give it a good looking over.

Guess it must have sold then!

I didn't manage to view, was too lazy.. i dont think ill risk it

Ill probably just take the safe options and get a newer lower mileage Fiesta

Thanks for the replies guys. I think these high mileage/high risk buys are good if you are technically competent

Just for reference, it was a 2003 accord executive 2.0
fully loaded with 123k miles
no service history on for £1850

Why would you go from looking at an Accord to a Fiesta?! It's like being straight but then taking Stallone home with you. If the Fiesta is the right car for your intended use (it doesn't sound like it is) then the Accord would have been a massive mistake. If the Accord was the right car for you intended purpose (it sounds like it was) then getting the Fiesta would be a massive mistake! There are other larger cars that would suit your needs, no need to do anything rash like buy a Fiesta :p
