Good news!
Martin was aware he was being watched and ran off, Zimmerman chased after him. Both Zimmerman's and Martin's friend's evidence corroborate this. It's only at that point do they then diverge - Zimmerman says he was jumped, Martin's friend said that he was confronted by Zimmerman.
Except he wasn't, the drug toxicology was trace drugs only when he died. Whether or not he was away home to get drugged up is a red herring - it doesn't give someone justifiable cause.
I don't know why you keep banging on about this as it has nothing to do with the case. Martin was inside the gated area and it was never an issue of him being there.
Doesn't mean anything unless they give both witnesses an eye testThe closest person to the kid was a guy the prosecution called and all he could see was a red color on the bottom
and a guy with a huddie on top. This was said in the trial.
Yes, once the fight had started. You do realise upto that point Martin was on the phone to somebody don't you?The closest person to the kid was a guy the prosecution called and all he could see was a red color on the bottom
and a guy with a huddie on top. This was said in the trial.
Which were still on his body - he literally went to the shop for iced tea and skittles. Yes he may have been going to use them to get high, but at that point he hadn't.They didn't test for to much cough medicine in the kids body. But when his mother said he only went for "iced tea and skittles" most in the US knew what she\them was taking.
It's not the point though. He was inside the gated community - he was never seen "illegally" entering to cause concern. The neighbourhood watch was actually set up in the years after the sub-prime crisis after druggies and dealers actually moved into the gated community to live.OMFG that's the whole point if the kid took the right route none of this would have happened.
Here's (in my view) a balanced perspective.
Yeah great news if you think it's fine for people to take the law into their own hands and massively over-react resulting in the murder of a young un-armed innocent child![]()
Yeah because it can prejudice your opinion on the actual crime that was committed. And if you watched the trial you hear things the jury didn't![]()

Wtf? If even half of that is true, then what was he even doing inside a court in the first place? Clearly self defense?!
Personally I think such issues highlight the fact that there is ALWAYS going to be tension between races. The only way it will be reduced (outside of differing communities) is through making everyone the same colour. :/

Nah even if that happened there would be discrimination on your mix.The only way it will be reduced (outside of differing communities) is through making everyone the same colour. :/
Rubbish? What cause did he have to stop someone who was going about their legal business, whilst describing the kid to the police dispatcher as:-
We've had some break-ins in my neighborhood, and there's a real suspicious guy
just walking around looking about
This guy looks like he is up to no good or he is on drugs or something
these ********, they always get away
Before shooting the kid yards from where he was staying?
After telling the police dispatcher that Martin "ran",[183] Zimmerman left his vehicle to determine his location and ascertain in which direction Martin had fled.[177][184] The dispatcher asked if Zimmerman was following Martin, and Zimmerman replied "Yeah." Then the dispatcher said, "OK, we don't need you to do that." Zimmerman replied with "OK" and stated that Martin got away.[183] After a discussion about where Zimmerman would meet police, the call ended, and Zimmerman told investigators he was returning to his vehicle when Martin approached him from his left rear and confronted him.[177][178] According to Zimmerman, Martin then punched him in the face, knocking him down, and began beating his head against the sidewalk.[177][178] Zimmerman said he called out for help while being beaten, and at one point Martin covered his mouth to muffle the screams.[177][178] According to Zimmerman's father, during the struggle while Martin was on top of Zimmerman, Martin saw the gun his son was carrying and said something to the effect of "You're gonna die now" or "You're gonna die tonight" and continued to beat Zimmerman.[176] Zimmerman and Martin struggled over the gun, and Zimmerman shot Martin once in the chest at close range, in self-defense.[177][178][179][Note 8]
He wasn't on drugs at the time - the toxicology report confirmed this the expert even went as far as stating that the trace quantities wouldn't have impacted his behaviour. He was chatting to a friend on the phone the whole time. That loitering comment isn't necessarily unreasonable too given that it took 4 minutes from the phonecall to the incident during which time Martin could have walked home he seemingly was loitering about. Martin was walking behind houses rather than on the pavement in front of them and wasn't recognised by Zimmerman.
Hes assertion 'on drugs or something' was correct too - Martin was in fact on drugs. They'd had plenty of break ins in the community... a 17 yr old drug dealer who's dressed like a 'gangster', high on weed and wandering about on his way home gets reported to the police by Zimmerman. What happens next isn't necessarily clear but the idea that it was purely racial profiling isn't necessarily correct - I'd wager that he'd have called in a white or hispanic kid dressed and acting in a similar manner. The press of course jumped on the fact Martin was black and have turned this into a massive race story. 20% of the residents of that community were black - Zimmerman wasn't calling the cops every time he saw a black person rather he was calling when he saw someone acting 'suspiciously'....
Zimmerman had made 45 calls to the police previously about suspicious individuals and on the previous call the person concerned had fled... on this incident he told the dispatcher that Martin was coming to check him out... According to Zimmerman Martin allegedly circled Zimmerman's vehicle, Zimmerman apparently put his windows up.. he the told the dispatcher that Martin ran - seems like Zimmerman's main mistake was getting out of his vehicle.
That's even worse then, as you can excuse his behaviour by drugs. But no, he was stone cold sober when he punched Zimmerman and then processed to smash his head on the concrete. He wasn't on drugs at the time - the toxicology report confirmed this the expert even went as far as stating that the trace quantities wouldn't have impacted his behaviour. Even if it was someone that was watching him and then chased him when he ran away? Stand your ground law and all that. He had a couple of small cuts on the back of his head, they weren't serious injuries at all that some people have been trying to make out. That's even worse then, as you can excuse his behaviour by drugs.
