Spec me a sub £150 phone

For new phones the Lumias win if the budget's definitely fixed. A bit more might get a second hand 4S or maybe a stretch to a Nexus 4 are improvements, but you're looking at a significant amount more.

Edit: teaches me to go away and watch TG without refreshing the page before answering - was only the OP then!

Vote for 620 here. Over the 520 it has a better quality screen, front facing camera, NFC, better rear camera, flash, and it supports global maps. Feels more sturdy and I prefer the design too. I use it as my personal phone and I love it.

Will see if she needs those features and whether its worth £50 more :)

I guess he means global navigation.

That's the same thing, here maps can navigate anywhere and can download all the maps

So what does it offer, it's same map, almost identical map view.

Right I see, you don't get turn by turn navigation when your route goes abroad.

You can still get map based directions though.

Huwaei Ascend Y300 is another option you should look at and it's sub £100 iirc.

Reason why it is so cheap is because it doesnt have a brand name attached but the spec for the price is really good.

or bump the budget up by £60 and get a nexus 4 in mint condition from smartfonestore.

Hmmm also read that the Orange branded ones (San Diego/Francisco) have quite decent specs for the money but cant seem to find them anywhere these days.

the G300 is better than them and the Y300 is better than the G300, so i would avoid them, they were good about 3 years ago.

the san diego is completely locked down (no modding or unlocking) and a lot of apps are incompatible with it, good phone if your on orange, but re-sale value and customization is zero.

the monte carlo was the last great phone they made and that is out of date by 2 years now, san francisco before that is now 3 years out of date.

Got my Aunt the Ascend Y300 last week and its an amazing phone. Nothing come close too it from the android side. S4 CPU is super fast even with 512MB ram, the hardware is quiet nice tbh and battery life is looking food so far. for the price is amazing.

Hi thanks for the the recommendations on the Y300 :)

Seems like a steal for £80

The only downside of it is the size?

My mom loves the feel of the 4S and hates the S3 which is closer to the Y300?

BODY Dimensions

136.6 x 70.6 x 8.6 mm (5.38 x 2.78 x 0.34 in)

124.5 x 63.8 x 11.2 mm (4.90 x 2.51 x 0.44 in)

Weight 133 g (4.69 oz) 130 g (4.59 oz)

it's a lot smaller than a S3, 0.5 inches in height and 0.3 inches in width.

just get the Y300, it's £80 seriously why are you looking for flaws?

Thanks for the, compared the dimensions myself :D

Im not looking for flaws, its just that this one if for my mom and would like to get something as close to a Galaxy Ace/Iphone 4S size/dimension wise cause if its too big or she doesnt like the feel of it, ill be getting the blame :p

do you want to be compromising spec for the sake of little differences in size?

the y300 is certainly not a big phone.

the iphone4s on the other hand imo is a small phone.

the note range is what i would call a big phone (ridiculously so).

the y300 is the phone to go for, if you still dont believe me then check out these video reviews.

as you can see the phone looks normal in the reviewer's hands, certainly not a big phone.

This y300 sounds like the ideal phone for the girlfriend, can't be too expensive as it spends far too much time being dropped on the floor!

Where are you guys buying these from for £80?
