Radeon 6970 - damaged casing?

Hey guys, my 6970 is looking a bit worse for wear, few broken clips etc has let it start to look a little shabby, I think it's starting to reflect in it's cooling as well - are there any decent aftermarket coolers I can swap to? I've tried taping the casing shut but the heat from the card just makes the tape melt a bit and stretch :(

Any suggestions?

There are coolers on the website, though I'd recommend going for a second hand one seeing as they're quite expensive.

For example :

I'm fairly sure the 'Gelid Icy Vision' cooler will fit a reference 6970, and be a little cheaper than the above example :

Another brand to look out for is 'Arctic Cooling'. Both are excellent choices.

Hmm, then again, is it even worth doing? I mean, how long will my 6970 be a viable card for? I've had it nigh on 3 years now, it's worked very hard for me, gaming and folding

As I said, I'd only go for a second hand cooler, or one that was very good value for money, due to the card being so old and having depreciated heavily. Otherwise, unless there's a simple, cheap fix, I'd start looking around at a new card. However, if it's still doing all you ask of it, then a cheap and cheerful home made solution might be the best answer.

Could you buy a damaged (like gpu melted damaged so hopefully cheap) card and swap coolers ?

why not just go around and put a neat strip of duck tape to hold it together (good quality tape that can handle the heat)

the sealed seam may improve temps too :)

Cable ties could work I guess :O not sure if I have any long enough, and duct tape, it's still all stringy and reinforce, would definitely work, but would look a bit of an eyesore :P
