as title really im looking at 27" monitors but at the resolution of 1920x1080p
whats peoples thoughts on the picture quality?,are they blurry?,pixalated?
i dont care about real estate on screen i use my pc purely for gaming and a little web browsing would a 27" 1920x1080p screen look good for gaming? i dont wish to go 1440p.

I believe it would be fine, granted the pixels are going to be slightly bigger, nothing horrible, but probably wont look as pretty as a lower " monitor at 1080p on desktop, but games will be ok.

It just depends if you really want to spend extra cash, for what seems like no benefit, as you aren't concerned with real-estate, nor 1440p option. As that's what you'd usually have them for.

im thinking of getting the 27" for the larger area screen hoping it will give me a more in depth experience pull me into the game more.

i could be wrong but i feel it may do this
any others on here running 1080p 27" screens ?

I used a Dell S2740L recently and was surprised how good the image quality was really, granted I didn't use it for very long but even so I was impressed. If you have the desk space for 27" then go for it, at the end of the day if you don't get on with it you can always DSR it back to the retailer. The size of my U3011 did draw me into games more than previous smaller screens as it filled more of my perficial vision, so a 27" screen should do what you want in that respect.

thankyou for the feedback
sadly i wont be able to dsr it due to it being a secondhand practically brand new purchase.

I use a 26" Iiyama ProLite which is 1900x1200 60hz. Had it for around 4 years and the image quality is fine for gaming. It's quite susceptible to screen tearing though which is why it will eventually get relegated to Xbox/Playstation duty.

Not sure if this is even helpful

The size vs. resolution issue is quite an individual matter, really. For example, I'm using a 42" HDTV @1920x1080 from a 1m (~3ft) distance. And I still need to use zoom on most web pages.

Furhermore, 2560x1440 has almost twice as many pixels to calculate when compared to 1920x1080, which in turn takes a toll on your FPS count when playing games, so keep that in mind, too.

The real question is 120Hz 1080p or 60Hz 1440p/1600p.;)

IMO for fast paced gaming you can't beat 120Hz.

As yet there are no reliable volume solutions for high res 120Hz (mainly just o/c'ed screens).

I love my 27inch 1080p screen. 120Hz is so smooth. You really do have to see it to understand the difference.

im just going with a dare i say it normal 60hz 1920x1080p screen, dont really play fps enough to warrant the extra for a 120hz screen dont want buy another 7950 to truly get the benfit either and 1440p is still a little to expensive and not hugely excepted/supported and dont really want the extra strain on my gpu(again not wishing to buy another 7950)

my next upgrade is to 1440p hopefully 120hz in a few years.

went for this screen:

Im never going back to anything less than 27" inch.. ive had 2 so fare.. one old Hanns G. which felt huuge and the one im using now a samsung s27a950 and due to its design its perfect. Small Bezel, 120hz and a pretty good Picture for a TN panel. Only thing it sucks at is 3D(due to cross talk issues, not feature set) but i cant stand playing like that anyway in its current implementation.

I don't see the point in 27" and above if you are not going to go to 1440/1600 resolutions.

24" is the 1920x1080 sweet spot and doubly attractive if you go for a 120Hz panel.
Anything bigger than 24" should be for cramming in higher resolutions.

I have a 27" 1440p and a 27" 1080p both Dells and in all honesty when gaming I cannot tell them apart both give a great picture.

Been looking at that one myself, only thing that puts me off is no height adjustment.

Any one using Iiyama Prolite E2773HS-GB1 27 with Xbox360/PS3? if i plug xbox360/ps3 into my 24inch samsung monitor it gives me washed out colours and very dull picture.

The e2773hs is an updated version of the HDS, I have had both and they are great monitors and I found no blurryness at all with them play fps games. I do find the g2773hs 120hz a better monitor & colours are great out of the box but I will say the e2773hs has slightly better viewing angles. I dont think you can go wrong with any of them tbh.

Don't worry Chris you will love 27" 1080p gaming with your 7950 as I do. I have this BenQ and once calibrated, with the help of TFT Central, I love the quality of the picture. Right now playing Crysis 3 and it looks amazing, slightly different tech to yours as mine is an AMVA panel, pity I hadn't seen your thread earlier as I would definitely have tried to steer you to the BenQ. Enjoy your new monitor mate. :)

You are still blessed with good eyesight then.
I wont use 24" at 1920x1080 as I find the text too small to read comfortably.

hey
thankyou for all the comments i have read them all and i purchased my monitor and didnt want to comment untill i had been using it for a few days.

well......
i will never be going back to below 27" again thats for sure!:D
whe i first set it up it looked enourmous compared to my 21.5" acer straight out of the box the colours are fantastic compared to the acer and the viewing angles are brilliant (tn panel) the touch screen buttons work very well.
when gaming it is so much more emersive my whole vision is now taken up by what im playing rather than looking and being able to see around the monitor it really does make a huge difference well to me anyway the movement is lovely and fluid(1ms response time) in game i really cannot see any difference in on screen graphics(blurry, fuzzyness, jagged edges.

there is only one downside and as people mentioned earlier the writing/text is slightly less sharp but seriously its so minimal its really not a issue to the point where i do not notice it whatsoever now and in all honesty for the gains of the 27" monitor gives u i wouldnt even let it concern u at all unless u are unbelievably anal and stare at your screen to pick faults.

i havent seen a 1440p screen but tbh the way people on here go on about u cant go past 24" before 1080p looks awful i honestly think u are either the most anal people in the world, justifying your 1440p purchase or never even seen a 27"1080p screen now personally i think this screen looks really nice and really not much different from my 21.5" monitor in quality of picture everyone has a opinion but it seems a shame people scare off other people from the 27" monitors with there talk of hideous 1080p at that size as its just plain wrong tbh it seems to me from looking around that 1440p's real advantage is on the desktop for real estate but as far as gaming goes doesnt seem to make much difference (again as i said i get this from reading about as i havent used 1440p).
but anyway im happy 27" 1080p gamer wahoooo
and thankyou all for your feedback and help.
Been looking at that one myself, only thing that puts me off is no height adjustment.

i also thought the height adjustment would be a issue but luckily for me its sat nicely on the desk and a good height u could always change the stand or use a book or something for height!lol
