Gentlemen,
A few friends and I are stuck in South Shields for the next 2 & 1/2 weeks doing a trio of short courses, and as these are only 3/4 days in length at most, we find ourselves with a few days to spare. Thus, having lived in the Shields/Newcastle area for almost the past 3 years, we've sort of exhausted the sights the area has to offer.
As a result, we're looking to travel a bit further afield, and have settled on getting the train down to York on Friday morning, doing abit of tourism before having a few pints and a meal. then getting the train back to Newcastle in the evening.
It's been about 10 years since I was last in York, so I'm hoping to see the Jorvik Center, the city center and the Minster before heading to the city's famed real ale pubs. Therefore, I was hoping I could get some recommendations from our esteemed members for any pubs in the city that stand out that we should visit?
Thanks.
