New gfx... 7950 or 680??

Much higher res for farcry. I did say 1080 and 1200, and hitman absolution was a gaming evolved title. So apart from sleeping dogs, tombraider , hitman absolution a 670 is faster.

Lol, the best you can come up with is "apart from all those titles and much more, the GTX670 is faster". Way to lose an argument. I at least showed some benchmarks to demonstrate that an overclocked HD 7950 trades blows with an overclocked GTX680 let alone a GTX670. I'm going to go ahead and believe the figures I posted thanks.

GTX670 and HD 7950 are very close in performance when overclocked. I would give the overall win to a HD 7950 but a few percent either way is hardly decisive. The reason the HD 7950 was a superior purchase was because it was cheaper. It won on price/perf, not outright performance.

I have £240 to get new gpu was thinking about

Asus GeForce GTX 660TI Direct CU II DC2O
Asus GeForce GTX 760
XFX DD Radeon HD 7950

my pc

BitFenix Prodigy
core i5 3570k
asus p8z77-i
Samsung ssd 840
corsair pro series 1866
cooler master silent pro 600w

and I don't no if the card will fit in a BitFenix Prodigy

I have the XFX 7950, it's cooler is v noisey and theyre voltage locked, so i wouldnt go for that one unless ya dont mind a bit of noise. Maybe someone can suggest a 7950 with a better cooler.

Direct CU is a 3 slot (yes really :p) card so won't fit.

Would advise you to avoid the 660Ti, 760 is better and almost the same price.

For the prodigy 760 > 7950 in my opinion, because it is smaller. Not sure which 760 would suit you best though :)

Argument ? Win ? Your mistaken, i am just informing.

anyway http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2013/06/25/nvidia-geforce-gtx-760-2gb-review/3

7950 oc boost whatever that is in mhz 925 or 1000 ? not sure vs a 670 non oc boost.

Only 4 games but the 670 is faster with no overclock in all 4 at 1080.

Unless the 670 is a typo and its really the 7950

Why are you posting stock vs stock comparisons when I was responding to your post where you stated the following.

"The 670 i have is poor at overclocking 1189mhz yet is still 5% faster on average with a similar clocked 7950 @ 1080 or 1920x1200 res."

Your post referenced overclock vs overclock, I know the GTX670 is marginally faster out of the box but that was never my point. You clearly state a 7950 vs GTX670 at similar clocks would leave the 7950 5% slower. I responded to show that this was not the case in my own extensive testing vs a GTX680 let alone a slower GTX670.

Still don't believe me, how about a HardOCP review where a very highly clocked GTX670 is matched by a lower clocked HD 7950. I know it is from 1 year ago but the point is still as valid today.

I am not saying a HD7950 is faster than a GTX670 when both are overclocked, I am saying they are so close that it would be impossible to declare an outright winner. Especially now that they are identically priced.

If you are worried about size you need to take into account that the 7950 is quite a big card. Don't rule out a GTX670 as they are still faster than a GTX 760 out of the box, and when overclocked. Also the reference Nvidia fans are very quiet.

Ok maybe my posts were not all that clear from rushing around.

My Card is 5% faster on average than 7950's ( which are my friends and collegues 7950's ) 1 of my friends cards is identical to mine ( a saphire 7950 ) the other 5 friends and colleagues 7950's are all slower in nearly every game at the same clocks, except metro , sleeping dogs , tombraider. I am talking about skyrim , bf3 , farcry 3 , serious sam 3 to name a few games were my 670 is faster.

Maybe i have just heard enough of this 7950 is faster, which a lot of people are stating that a stock 7950 boost or none boost is faster than a 670, which is not the case, Much better value yes with 8 games, but not faster.

I appreciate your input though.
