It would be upsetting for you seeing him link up with RvP in a United shirt ;)

Wenger mentioned a clause in his contract that suggests the first refusal is definitely there.

He is under the impression fab is staying for at least one more year. So we will find out next summer about any existing clauses.

How have Madrid gone from 25 mil to 37 mil in the space of a couple of days? We have wasted 1/2 a month so far, Wenger best pull his finger out soon.

Im not 100% sure it's wenger. Sounds like they were fine with £23m then they upped it to £27m...now £35m...

Probably a reflection on the money flying around. Napoli have a huge "war chest" too now and looking for a striker.

It's going to be up to the players to force a move or they are just going to keep playing us.

Maybe by sounding out suarez wenger thinks Madrid will jump in at the last minute and buy him. Then Higuain will ask to leave. Or we end up with Suarez.

Sounds like Arsenal's gamesmanship has backfired, by bidding for Suarez in an attempt to get Rm to sell them Higuain on the cheap, RM have gone the opposite and said if you can afford 35mill+ for Suarez you can afford 35mill + for our player. Quite funny

It doesn't matter. We bid, he agrees to leave, Arsenal informed they either bid or don't, if they do, he possibly still joins Man Utd.

There's also the fact that whilst he had a good time at Arsenal it wasn't the greatest separation, nor is it the team it was, so I'm not sure why Arsenal fans are so confident that he's not going to another team. Because Wenger said? Really?

Its no real surprise if its true ie RM have upped the price on Higuain...personally Higuain isnt worth more than £25mill imho but Real are absolute ****s in the transfer market themselves.

Anyhow lets see how this pans out ie Higuain and Suarez...still over a mth to go before the window closes and im hoping that even though Wenger is in the far east at the moment..behind the scenes we are doing our best to sign some world class players even if it means Suarez, Rooney or Higuain.

It's all a bit odd if you ask me, you could have had Higuain signed up for 25mil a few weeks back, but you didn't want to up your bid by that extra 2 mill, so you decide to enter and bid for Suarez at 30mill + add ons - despite all the talk being it will take 40mill for him to even start talking. A week later there is still nothing coming in at 40 mill, from yourselves or RM (have RM ever made their desire public? don't think so) - so much so his agent is now begging clubs to make a 40 million pound bid so our 'resolve' can be tested.

Are Arsenal serious about any of the bigger named targets they have been linked with? I'm very skeptical if Im honest.

The cynic in me says its all posturing to appease the fans.

Pretty much the same, we have been linked with some pretty big names and so far nothing other than some young French kid who is unproven on the big stage so to speak.

**** knows whats really going on at Arsenal, im keeping my fingers crossed that something big happens soon. Luckily for us, none of the other big teams ie Utd, City or Chelsea have made any huge signings this summer.

It's probably all just a big smokescreen so that they can get Gervinho's brother in without anyone noticing ;)

Pfft Gervinho lol...last i heard is that Roma has offered £7mill for him but Lyon now seem to be interested in taking him as well and sending Gourcuff the other way.

Arsenal fans - we want a big name signing
Wenger - Well, we bid 23 million for Higuain, RM wanted too much
Arsenal fans - we want a big name signing
Wenger - Well, we bid 35 million for Suarez, Liverpool wanted too much
Arsenal fans - we want a big name signing
Wenger - Well, we bid 30 million for Rooney, Man U wanted too much

Luckily for us, none of the other big teams ie Utd, City or Chelsea have made any huge signings this summer.

Given that those 3 are all with new managers, now is the perfect time for Arsenal or Spurs (even us) to spend big on one or 2 real quality signings, and gun for the top 3

Then we'll get some drivel about the fees these clubs wanted did not represent the true market value of the player :p

It's still early, the window has only been open for 18 days.

Yas-
You could argue though that Chelsea, City and so on don't need to make any huge signings.

If we bring in Jovetic and Negredo to add to Navas and Fernandinho we have fixed the major flaws in our team in my opinion.

Chelsea the same from what I can see have done as well.

Both teams also bringing in a new manager that by all accounts, well definitely in Mourinho will be an improvement on the previous one. With the squads that both teams already have big name signings just aren't needed and its just a matter of the new manager getting more out of the current players than replacing them.

The details of the Negredo deal are apparently...
Financial details leaked by City to the press:

£16,400,000 initial fee
+ £850,000 if City win the Champions League
+ £500,000 if City win the Premier League
+ £250,000 if City qualify for the Champions League
+ various others that could take it to £20,600,000

Jovetic deal is also close according to Di Marzio, matter of Jovetic's agent finalizing the deal.

didn't want to up your bid by that extra 2 mill
is this any more than rumour and conjecture?

It's all a bit odd if you ask me
I think this all comes back to Perez and the preposterous, delusional arrogance around Real. Perez has publicly made this a vendetta against Higuain, simply because Higuain has made it know that he would like to leave - the outrage, how dare a player want to leave Madrid! Perez has stated that Higuain must apologise publicly for asking to leave, and be grateful that he is Madrid player no matter how much playing time he gets.

The way Real Madrid is run is a joke, we all know it. The presidents and executive management always regard themselves as the most important people at the club, which in turn they regard as the most important in the world. I doubt they would be doing this if PSG and Monaco weren't preventing Real from just doing as they like and rail-roading other clubs into selling their best players for knock down prices.

If Real had been able to buy Cavani at the price they wanted, Higuain would be an Arsenal player already, but the only big star possibilities remaining are Rooney and Suarez (assuming Bale is a non starter this season.) Perez needs to save face now, by making sure that Higuain bows and Real get a win in the transfer market.

I would have thought you Arsenal fans would be glad Wenger is like he is, surely it's better him not giving in and saying oh ok 35 mil it is for Higuain, that's 12 mil difference, you could have bought another Giroud for that money.

It's more than likely. The club is run like a joke! Has been for years, that's why they havent won anything. Biggest club in the world and they've havent even done a domestic double, (maybe they have once or twice) it's not like Spain has particularly many competitors as well..
