What would you spend a 161M lottery win on

Buy a nice house and land for when I'm old so I can retire there but rent it out in the mean time.
Sort out family and friends.
Buy the rights to a book, donate that to great ormond street hospital, so they will get all profits from that.
Setup a foundation to help refugees go to universities.
Buy a boat, learn to sail... Buy a quad to place on it.. And disappear around the world.

I won't bother buying flashing cars, houses and stuff I would just live in hotels, rent cars when needed and move to another one in another part of the world when I'm bored.

Buy one of these bad boys , although that's only 3 million.

Buy a nice, but not excessive house both here and abroad (say £1m each) along with a few flats to rent (say £2m if they're somewhere silly like London), give some to family (lets say another £15m goes). Invest say 15% of the remainder to hopefully cover some of the inflationary hit on the big bundle (so what, £19m give or take) and live off the interest on the rest, doing whatever takes my fancy at the time.

What is it and where is it, doesn't seem overly big, does it navigate or fixed?

Its called "The Osros" , i belive its classed as a yacht.

Designed by an Austrian company the Osros floating island includes six luxury double bedrooms, with space for 12 residents and four staff members. On top of that you’ll have up to 1,000 square meters of living space including six double rooms, a sun deck, a BBQ area, Jacuzzi, terrace and a bar with seating for 15 people. The interiors are simply amazing providing guests with luxury dining areas and the latest swank in terms of clever and versatile solutions for modern living.

Get a house designed and built to my spec and desires in the uk. Maybe buy a few holiday homes, and buy a few nice cars.

Invest the rest to live off.

Only maybe?

Depends on the charity, for kids yes. Maybe for some research as for the rest where does it actually go. My sense of charity took a hit after walking through a mildly deprived area a couple of days ago. Nice verbal chat...felt quite sorry at first..

Id buy the mother & father a nice house here in the countryside, also a holiday home abroad and give them enough money to live very comfy with no worries.

Id do the same too, nice house here with a holiday home,Also i would travel the world too.

I wouldn't want all the attention though,i wouldn't want to be in the papers either.

Where would you put that sort of money safely knowing it'll still be there tomorrow?

I guess you'd first have to buy your own island in neutral waters to be free from governmental interference and laws, then remove all your money from their banking systems and into something physical and tradeable like gold.
That still wouldn't stop some religious tool exploding a nuclear bomb upwind of you though.

I like the idea of hiring 100 of the brightest people right out of university, giving them each a £100K/yr budget and access to whatever research/production facilities they needed, and just ask them to work on their dream project for 5 years. Then see what they come up with :)

Too many clever people end up in multinational companies just making softer toilet roll, crunchier pet food or whatever makes their employers the most money, when really all these people have their own ideas of what would be a fantastic thing to develop, they'll just never get the opportunity.
