There's no sit down meal. Just a buffet and drink up.

No it's in a nice place (Manor Hotel), and it's not as chavvy as I've made it sound. The buffet is more salmon and parma ham than sausage rolls and cheese sarnies.

Some people don't like the whole sit down meal thing. I don't mind as I cant drink after eating a big meal, so a buffet is perfect.

but anyway you know your friends better than anyone else and they know you better than we do.

if you are hard up they won't expect much if you are fairly comfortable they might expect £25-£50 but in my experience when someone asks for cash it's because they think they are going to get more monies worth out of the guests.

even worst is when they expect people to pick items off their list :rolleyes:

most normal people are just happy to share the big day with friends and make it known they aren't expecting lavish gifts

From the few weddings we've been too, for very close friends we gave equivalent of £100 (they were going to Australia so gave them some $ for the trip), others we've given between £25 and £50 depending on who they were.
