Does seeing cruelty online affect you?

Nope, not really bothered by that kind of stuff at all. Not that I really get exposed to it as I don't frequent the parts of the internet that push it. But no - doesn't affect me.

Do you think it is due to seeing so much in reality? That watching on a screen seems distant and diffuse?

Yer, without a doubt I am pretty much immune due to exposure. It doesn't mean you don't know it's wrong you just don't have a reaction that would impair your judgement or ability to act.

Don't get me wrong somethings get me and haunt me but not stuff like this.

Anyone remember a website called Ogrish? I used to always watch a load of crap on there when I was younger.. Doesn't bother me.

I was going to say something about that... I went through a little month phase when younger too were i would check their forum and nasty stuff.

curiosity i guess? Didnt really effect me. I think. :p

Unfortunately yes to the amusement of others on here. I avoid watching anything involving animal cruelty as it just puts me in a horrible rage.

Animals getting hurt seems to effect me a lot more than humans getting hurt. Anyone else get this?
Yes you're not alone.

I've seen the worst the net has to offer with regard to human suffering - to the point I'm now pretty desensitized :( But yeah, anything involving animals I can't even stand to watch and always avoid.

Animal cruelty really gets to me. Not so much other stuff though. I once watched a video of a raccoon that had just been skinned and was still alive, and he looked at the camera with a "kill me" look in his eyes.

Really made me ball my eyes out.

that is a truely awful video. the worst part for me is the slam (that obviously doesn't kill it) and the way that anything other than the skin is simply tossed away.

even worse, it probably ended up as ugg boots.

is it effect or affect?

I've always said affect for this type of thing but notice a few posters saying effect?

Still sure it's affect!?! I think.... :D

Human v Human I can understand but I could happily watch someone who throws a dog off a tower block be maimed and lol

Ergh don't remind me of that! I very rarely get depressed or angry whilst just browsing the web but the look in it's eyes was just soul destroying. How anyone could work at PETA and the like is beyond me.

haha as soon as I read OP I thought of your name. Tank the big angry man and lover of all things cute and fluffy :p

I find it affects me more now than it did when I was younger I think it's more due to understanding the effects these actions have on people more now. Animal cruelty does make my blood boil though.

Ah man...i've watched a few things, down to curiosity i suppose, wish i hadn't. Puked everywhere, literally, when i clicked on that video that's about those russian kids that went on a rampage. PUKED!!!!

Someone showed me a guy getting his head cut off as well when i was like fricking 12, the gurgling....ah christ, i'll never forgot.. Haunted me for ages that gurgling noise..still does i suppose..

yet their was massive evidence to suggest that the activists paid the workers to do that on a one off basis for 'effect'
The internet is still very much part of the propaganda train where anything can look bad without context.

ofc some of it is just plain crazy particularly if it involves animals - but its not all black and white.

Can't watch animal cruelty, get very angry.

Can watch people been cruel to each other, but choose not to as its, well not nice is it.

Always makes me wonder when you see a video that clearly shows something vicious, and yet 100's of thousand of people have clicked to watch it.
