Barca have come out and said he is not for sale at any price and one of the board members at Barca said they would have paid double what they paid for Neymar if they had to. We won't get Fabregas and the longer we spend on it the less time we will have to pursue realistic targets.

Indeed, our attitude is very odd if it's as unlikely as people are making it out to be. We must have had some kind of indication from either the club, player or both that a move might be possible.

Yeah, I think so.

Okay that isn't good news, could be negotiations though. :p :(

Haha, I wish. If we look at it sensibly:

Tried to get Thiago who barca didn't want to sell. Barca lost him.

Barca spent ages getting Fabregas back and have now lost another talented midfielder so the chances of them selling are very low.

Our opening bid was a joke.

Fabregas doesn't want to leave by all accounts

Arsenal could be a thorn in the deal.

And the reasons it will happen....

Uhmmm...

Why would they say anything else unless it was clear they wanted rid of a player at any cost?

Saying 'Yeah he's for sale' is only going to weaken their position. Just as we have with Rooney, Liverpool with Suarez etc, the stance will always be 'they are not for sale'.

We've seen 'they are not for sale' and players sold soon after many times. Even if the biggest transfer was 'he's not for sale', 'oops he's at Madrid'.

I bet if he played 39 league and cup games for Arsenal last season and only came up with 1 league goal and a CL goal then you would be slating him... not praising the fact he can play youth football very well.

Why would I? Because he plays for Arsenal?

You've lost me, if he played for Arsenal it wouldn't bother me one bit

Rooney to Arsenal in a £25 million deal, Arsenal agree to step aside so Fabreagas can sign for United :)

The other thing about this transfer is the lack of noise coming from the Fabregas camp, since the news broke of a bid we haven't heard a peep out of him, very unlike him.

He already said he didn't want to leave after it was first reported.

Where? He hasn't come out and said anything himself directly.

A player saying something is like the noise Suarez is making constantly, not the clubs coach saying 'when I last spoke to him he didn't want to leave', to which the time he last spoke to him was the end of last season.

I thought that came through Vilanova?

It did and wasn't even a recent discussion with him.

No, the only thing that's officially come out of Barca was Vilanova saying Cesc wants to stay etc, Cesc himself hasn't said anything, and the club haven't issued any statements until now (though it's that Sport paper that kept claiming Thiago to Man Utd was a done deal, even before Bayern were in the picture).

Aha. This is another thing that makes me wonder!

Like I said dm is a patsy. He is being dictated to who is good and who is bad. This is why6we needed a new strong manager to make his own mind up .

If there is anything David Moyes is, it's strong. He's hardly one to be weak willed.
He's not going to come in and slate players, saying he'd listen to offers or down someone's chances of making it at United before playing a single competitive game! Honestly..

As for Welbeck, yes, he was poor in front of goal last season, but his overall performances weren't bad. He'd beat people, his passing was good and he looked quick. You're making out like he was bad in every way, he wasn't. He's not going to be a world beater, but he's sure as hell good enough to be in the squad. If he starts finishing his chances (like he used to) then he's a great weapon to have. Plus, he's Manc born and bred, he loves United and he's passionate to the club. You should kill for that kind of loyalty. Especially when you look at the Rooney saga.

Robi wind your neck in. I didn't say signing or trying to sign fabregas was w bad thing I was relaying the news. I was unhappy with the welbeck aspect though and the Rooney part.

No, I'm not going to wind my neck in. You continually post utter tripe that the majority of posters pick up on, not just me - with zero factual information.

I just don't understand how you can call yourself a MUFC fan?
