Please explain why he is in a weak position? If we publicly announce that Rooney is for sale, his value drops dramatically - are you too stupid to see that?
Instead, he's increasing Rooney's sale value at the same time as confirming outright that we are chasing one of the best midfielders in the world - HOW DO YOU NOT SEE THIS?!
And no he wasn't targeting cavani whist at Everton so was unlikely to have any dossiers on him which is another reason you don't want a lower league manager taking on a top job because he doesn't know who he should be signing.
I think that analysis and punditry should be there to educate people that watch about football, from an expert point of view. I'm not sure everyone will agree with me on that, but the anchor should be there to bring a bit of light heartedness to the show.
You do realise that clubs have souting networks, there would be dossiers on pretty much every player of note availabe to Moyes when he took over
Sounds like we might have another target to fall through at some late stage lol
Arsenal came out of nowhere to declare their interest in the 5ft 5” attacker, with ESPN Brazil reporter Ale Oliveira quoting simply:
"Bernard is going to join Arsenal." Said Oliveira on Brazilian radio.
Educating Nick is a hopeless task. Perhaps we can create a thread called NickG's musings about Football Management? He can enlighten us all about the things he knows.
Did you see the tweet? So unbelievingly cryptic. I have zero hope or excitement for the new season, even more so with no first team signings. Just sign someone, anyone!Gomis to newcastle?? Local press going to report later with more info
Firstly competition. None of Europe's top clubs had offered him a job. This year or last year. We didn't have to fight to persuade moyes. It was Everton forever and then villa... or utd.
Secondly and this is linked to point 1, he didn't match the job spec. Big cup experience? Virtually zero. Sucess at a high level, none whatsoever. So what United said about an experienced manager with experience in big European fixtures was not met.
There was no decision for moyes to make. It was like the gifting of a job to someone under qualified. And not to mention he has not even been in the same ball park.
But that shouldn't preclude him from having an opinion on welbeck a player he must have seen play many times.
And no he wasn't targeting cavani whist at Everton so was unlikely to have any dossiers on him which is another reason you don't want a lower league manager taking on a top job because he doesn't know who he should be signing.
Lawrenson is the worst, Shearer is boring and just continually comes up with none-information and Hansen is outdated.
I don't have a problem with Lineker, but he shows little to no personality on the standard MotD format, where as on International duty for competitions and on Twitter he's actually quite funny.
It's standard for BBC to be out-dated and lack personality, but there's little doubt MotD is one of the very worst culprits for it. I just record it and fast forward them because I get absolutely nothing from it. No insight, no opinions, just completely standard, by the book, droll information.
It's the complete opposite from MNF where I actively seek out what Gary Neville has been saying. Ed Chamberlain leads that show like Lineker does on MotD, but there's little doubt Neville (and now Carragher) is the star, he gives genuine, relevant opinions and isn't afraid to say what's on his mind. The BBC are too worried about offending anyone or anything, it's a case of the ex-players union, 'We can't condemn the performance or attitude of a professional, let's look at something else'.
Just watch the Gary Neville viewpoint on diving as a comparison and you can see why Sky are miles ahead.
I'm not sure why BBC are so worried about BT, they haven't even started yet and my personal experience of McManaman is he's unable to drop any level of bias and doesn't really care for what's happening. I hate listening to him on the Fox Soccer coverage, especially as they always give him the bloody Man Utd games. Rio has personality, but can he actually convey it in a professional, insightful manner? We'll see. James speaks well. Michael Owen? I'll probably fall asleep, we all know football isn't his passion, commentating will just be getting in the way of his horse racing.
BBC need a fresh faced shake up. Thankfully it won't be professional moron, Colin Murray, as he's off, taking his 'face for radio' back to his originally calling, so I can ignore him again. Savage is actually pretty good, wouldn't have a problem with him, but can see them fleshing it out with full-time mumbler Martin Keown and Dube smacker, Dion Dublin, which is essentially just a younger version of the boring panel they have now.
