Alternates to Santander Premium account

Got a letter through today and they're stopping the premium accounts. I have a £2k overdraft which was interest free but is now going to cost £20 a month if I use it. I'm also going to lose phone insurance and breakdown cover.

Any accounts offer a similar service for £15 or so a month?

I can pay the overdraft off no problem, only reason I used it is because it is interest free so good for building up credit rating I guess.

I guessed you was just using it as an interest fee loan.

Considering that though how much is it really worth? If you put the £2,000 in a 3% bearing account that's £60 or £5 a month.

Nationwide offer what you want for £10 a month minus the overdraft.

edit:

It is missing an equivalent of the AXA Health benefits though.

I did look at Nationwide, as well as Halifax. I used to be with HSBC years ago, but they made a monumental error and took a while putting it right so I left.

How is Nationwide's online system? I enjoy Santander because it allows me the freedom to move money around (I'm self employed) without using one of them silly PIN pads or having to call up - they simply send me a text with a code.

TBH all I really need is the mobile cover and breakdown, didn't really use the other benefits.

Put your mobile phone on your contents insurance and buy breakdown cover separately?

I'm sure you could do that for less than £15 a month, although it doesn't help with the overdraft…

True I guess. Like I said though, the overdraft isn't a problem and can be paid off, I only dip into it for credit rating I guess.

FlexPlus is only £10pm, but as Irish_Tom says if you can shift things around, if there's a good TCB / Quidco cashback for breakdown cover then it might be cheaper over the course of a year.

I use Nationwide for online banking.

You can login using memorable data I think but I just the card reader they send you. The online banking page is easy to use and I'm always moving money around between multiple accounts without issue.

Natwest premium accounts is £15 quid a month and an overdraft flat rate of £6 + Interest asking for 2k wouldn't be a problem if you're not a risk.

I just told them to shove themselves though after their travel insurance let me down, bit of misunderstanding on my part and then total lack of empathy.

TBH every high street bank offers the same crappy bundle now... Just go to Uswitch or alike and compare them side by side.

I have a Lloyds TSB Gold Account which, for £9.95 per month, gives me:

- Worldwide Travel Insurance from AXA, incl. USA
- Mobile Phone Insurance from Lifestyle Home and something insurance
- AA breakdown cover (which I have optionally upgraded and used quite a lot)
- Sentinel card protection

I don't use the overdraft but I don't think that it is particularly great though (£10, maybe).

Think my Barclays account is £17. Get will writing, rac, travel insurance, extended warranty, mobile insurance, a portion of interest free overdraft and some other bits I can't remember.

I'd recommend natwest,

Their most basic account comes with travel insurance, phone insurance, and a basic lovefilm subscription for £10-12 a month...

Being £2k overdrawn does not build up your credit rating. It makes you look like you are always £2k overdrawn and are not repaying it.

I'm not permanently in it, I drift in and out as and when. My credit rating has slowly been improving over the past 6 months.
