Barca say Fabregas is not for sale

http://www1.skysports.com/football/...r-united-target-cesc-fabregas-is-not-for-sale

Just hearing on SSN that Utd are after Baines and Fellaini, perhaps thats why the Utd chief exec left early to try and get those 2 into Utd.

Once again - why would a club come out and actively advertise their player was for sale when they want to keep the price up?

Not saying I believe Fabregas will or won't sign, but these things are said all of the time.

Wonder who Barca will get in as their manager, meant to be announcing the new manager next week so it seems like this was something they have planned for.

Jupp Heynkes(sp) from Bayern??.

So one for Everton fan's or football fan's in general.

My boss is an Everton fan. Season ticket holder goes to a few away games. He reckons that Baines is the best player he has seen in an Everton shirt since Kanchelskis.

So how good is he then. Does he not have something like the highest amount of assists in Europe from crosses or something. Evra had a pretty poor end to season 2011-2012 but last season he was consistent. A solid defender and a real asset going forward. Other than being four or five years younger than Evra, what would Baines bring to the United team ?

As for Fellaini, no thanks

I've always seen Baines very much like I saw Moyes - perfect for a side like Everton.

Defensively he's not great (not many fullbacks are these days) but probably better than Evra. His contribution going forward is his real strength but I'm not sure he'd suit Utd. His delivery is fantastic but at Everton he was putting a lot of crosses into the box for Jelavic, Fellaini etc - is he going to be lumping crosses into the box at Utd? I'd have thought Evra's pace and overlapping style of attacking better suits Utd.

Like Baines wouldn't walk straight into your side :D

He didn't ours, if it wasn't for lescott getting sold he probably would have stayed on our bench. ;)

It's an interesting point though Loki, I'm tryint to think who is our best player since Kanchelskis. I'd disagree with your boss and say cahill or arteta over more seasons than Baines.

I'm not sure Baines has the mentality to step up the pressure, he struggled when he came to Everton.

Must increase as it was 0% before. :p

Considering we're in negotiations with them at the moment, I don't think they're 0%.

There will probably be quite a lot of behind the scenes stuff going on that the press aren't aware of.

I'd be shocked and over the moon if it happened, but it's definitely in 'too good to be true' territory at the moment, but there's certainly a chance.

Reina's off to Napoli on loan according to Tony Barrett. A year there before joining Barca next summer I guess.

Despite what Rodgers said about wanting 2 top keepers Reina was always off once we signed Mignolet. With the Barca move for this summer falling through, it makes sense to let him go on loan for the year rather than pay him £5-6m in wages.

Evra still loses track of people making runs in behind him though and continually fails to cut out crosses. He's often out jumped at the back stick (although I'll let him off for the freak Ronaldo jump :p) and Evra is hands down the worst crossing wing-back I've seen at United.

For me I'd happily replace him. Last year was his best season in a few and he still made plenty of errors. Plus, for a Captain (well, vice, but Vidic was out for so long), he never talks to the other players!

I always thought he would go but im sick of us loaning players we should be selling, If they will be covering ALL of his wages then fair enough not so bad.

Glad Mignolet will get a proper chance though
