Morning all

I am looking to build a computer to do the above, I already have :
Monitor- Samsung bw206
Os- win7
Power supply - be quiet 650w
Cdrw

So will need :
Cpu
Mobo
RAm
Gfx
Hdd
Case
CPU cooler
Tim
Possibly an ssd

Have I forgotten anything ?
I cannot decide on the CPU or Mobo in particular. I know I want a K CPU but which one i cannot decide. I am after something I can overclock moderately for everyday use for gaming and video editing/encoding.
I will be selling bits of old pc so budget is flexible ;)

I did build my last pc in sig. But that was some time back. Have been researching recently and it seems haswell may not be worth the premium. Can u suggest a build please. Many thanks is advance.

Went with the 8 core amd if your doing video editing.

Could probably save some on the case and get another 8gb ram depending on how heavy your editing is.
Can save a fair bit on the mobo but saber tooth is great :)

Edit: I missed the k series cpu :( Still good for editing :D

I am surprised that msi don't do a Mobo for this CPU. Only 3 available at overclockers. As budget is flexible can a haswell build be had for 1-200 extra. I am only thinking of future proofing a little bit longer and possibly abit more energy efficient. Is this gfx better than the 660ti? I've always preferred nvidia, but like mentioned I've been out of the loop for a bit. Many thanks in advance ;)

Thanks. Nice build with haswell. Can reuse current hdd but wanted a fresh drive for a new build will keep old hdd for extra storage. Will research the gfx vs the 660ti. Are msi mobos not good anymore ? They used to be with their military grade caps etc. thanks again

Thanks. But would really prefer an intel CPU ;)

They still make fairly decent boards, just that the 2 I would recommend in your budget are out of stock.

Am I missing something? Can't see anything about 8 free games, which ones are they ?Thanks. Games will decide whether I get this or go for a 660ti.

I like my Nvidia cards tbh but the AMD counterparts do offer better performance/price ratio. And they OC very well to.
But considering the fact you will be video editing and rendering, I would most likely opt for the 660ti. But check out some of the benchmarks in the links above, might help you decide.

Depends on that software you are planning to use to do your video editing. Sony Vegas supports both Nvidia and ATI for quite some time now. Adobe with Premiere CC started supporting ATI cards via OpenCL.
