Hi all,

My wife has just giving a statement to her boss regarding her own line manager
Conduct at work they have now suspended her line manager (gross misconduct)
My wife's signed her statement but will her line manager read her statement and find out that it was my wife who reported her? 3 other people made statement against her line manager.

Depends on the company policies and whether telling the person accused who reported it would be really important in allowing them to respond.

In most cases I doubt they would name the person, but I have seen them named in a harassment case

Every disciplinary i have done, the victim gets a copy of all the notes and statements involved, so i would say yes, he will see your wife's statement.

Just remember that whilst the line-manager has the right to everything pertinent to their case you wife has the right to be protected from harassment and bullying. No doubt there is a policy covering this. Any fall out tell her to follow to the letter and to document everything. If anyone says anything to her she doesn't like she says "I feel threatened by your comment I am asking you to stop saying such things and will report this incident" etc. No tolerance, not one comment to be said without consequence. Slap it down quick and it will not reoccur - if however it does then you are already a decent way along the escalation route that you don't have to faff around. As it is also the line-manager and will most likely have people who know him/her in high up positions ensure anything your wife does which could in some small way be seen as negative performance is documented. So when they say "we don't think you did this well" she can say "oh well my records from that date say different - oh you guys don't have any records to back up your assertions guess you best back down again". That's the way the game is played - play it safe, cover your back, document everything and I mean everything - yes it's a faff but it is the best protection you can get - most people are too sloppy to do it.
