Tour de France 2013 *** Spoilers ***

I'd guess he'd already eaten his that day!

I'm sure Sky are limited to 3 gels per rider per day ;)

What I meant was, they knew the course, the monster of a hill coming up, why not just take a couple from the car when they had chance and pocket them.

The marginal losses of time from carrying two gels outweighs the possible loss of loads of time due to cracking on the climb or taking a 20 second penalty from feeding outside the allowed zones.

The car broke down and wasnt there to give them stuff on the flat before the hill. By the time they had fixed it or swapped cars (i'm not sure as the ds was french and i didnt understand what he said) they were already on the climb.

Should have used a Skoda!

Should have used a Skoda!

Skoda pride themselves on not having a single mechanical failure in the TdF for 10 years or something.

This was caused by the water cooler they used for the cyclists' drinks leaking and getting into the electronics.

I dont think Jaguar will be too happy at them for not making that clear.
All that they said on the tv interview was that there was "a problem with the car".

Fantastic tour, well done to Froome and Sky on another great win, may it continue.

Really enjoyed the evening finish to the tour and going around the Arc de Triomphe, hope they do that again next year.

David Brailsford is a legend.

In 2010 everyone laughed when Sky announced that their aim was to deliver a British TdF winner in 5 years (admittedly even Sky scaled that back in 2011 to deliver a TdF winner in 5 years, no mention of nationality) and they've done it twice in four attempts.

Given the right people, the right funding and the right motivations then it's all possible.

Yep, like him. I like his straight talking attitude when dealing with the media as well.

I saw a Skoda being pushed over the top of Mont Ventoux this year so they've had at least one!

This was the first time I watched the Tour and I really enjoyed it. Chris Froome is good but personally I think Quintana is awesome if it weren't for TT, he'd be the one to beat.

Learning the lingo like Domestique - which Porte was The MVP if there ever was one for cycling.

Totally enjoyed it, just a shame whenever I read any article, the comments about CF's nationality and sarcasm about drug use (which unfortunately it's the sport's legacy). No one seem to realise how hard and how much hard work is required to get there!

Anyway, so looking forward to next year when it starts in Yorkshire :D

I learned today that this is not shown in Germany despite Marcel Kittel and André Greipel both prominent riders. Anyone know why?

"From 2012 ARD and ZDF will go without live coverage of the race," the broadcasters said in a statement.

"Both broadcasters have agreed not to join a new contract with the European Broadcasting Union and rights holders ASO."

They said the race, once popular among Germans, had fallen out of favour with television viewers in recent years and they could not justify live daily coverage of the three-week event.

"The most important cycling race in the world has only a minor following among German viewers," ARD and ZDF said.

The two state broadcasters will still offer live coverage of the 2011 race, which starts on July 2 at Vendee and runs to July 24, due to contractual obligations.

Cycling has been struggling with its tarnished image after a long list of high profile doping cases in recent years.

That is the state broadcasters and I thought that Eurosport De had live coverage?
