I'm not saying I necessarily disagree with the idea of a monarchy - to be honest I'm quite apathetic about it - but that's a pretty weak argument.

Most of the worlds most corrupt and oppressive nations have or have had a monarchy. It's a very old model which arguably should remain in history.

Don't get people who say there should not be a monarchy.

Its FACT they bring in tons of money to the uk financially, a lot more than they cost.

Its FACT they benefit the uk in other ways, the queen is a symbol of wisdom and patience to the world.

Factually they benefit us all, so why would anyone want rid of them?

royal family certainly did a lot for our HDI rating then

anyway if you want to talk HDI why don't we talk about all the nations our monarchy urinated all over?

If you want people to quantify what our Monarchy has given our country, you knock yourself out proving that these nations you seem to think we urinated over are worse off then they would have been otherwise.

At least two of those countries replaced their monarchies with something much much worse. Not sure what point you are trying to prove there....

Who said I don't think resources should be re-allocated globally to nations which have been set-back or historically exploited?, or that I'm happy about the fact I've got a position of privilege - usually at the expense of others.
