*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

Hi Guys,

Managed to crack my screen on my less than a month old S4, any ideas how much a new screen is, how long it takes and who is best to go through?

Cheers,

Blue

Yeah no SD card instaleld at the mo, it seems to be slightly better behaved if its out.

Yeah i've ordered a new battery, I need one for holiday anyway.

Also ordered a Samsung 64gb card as i did read previously in this thread that the Sandisk cards can cause issues with Samsung devices or something, though i haven't had any major issues myself, a few times after turning on or restarting the phone my images on the SD card wouldn't show up in gallery, but a reboot usually sorted it.

I do half wonder if the phone itself is buggered though..... Was sim free from Amazon.

Worst case scenario, would it go back to them or Samsung?

When i get home i'll back it up, only really SMS and Whatsapp I'm fussed about..

V_R - it could be caused by a few things, the ROM, battery, not sure about SD card though. I use a Sandisk 64GB in my S3 and it's been fine.

Maybe flash the previous rom you were on and see how it goes.

It may even need a factory reset.

It depends on how broken it is, is it just the glass, the glass and the digitizer or the glass digitizer and actual panel.

ok i think am cracking up am wanting to switch from my iphone to a galaxy s4 but am wanting the 32 or 64gb version why cant i find it or am i missing something

This is what I'm waiting on. I cannot find any info about the 32/64gb versions being released. Every message to Samsung, even my own on the subject seems to come back with "we don't have any info at the moment, check out website for any updates". Very annoying.

Verizon US has a 32gb S4 as well. Given Samsungs past releases (S2 and S3), I would have said we probably wont see one here at all. However, Samsung aren't behaving like Samsung anymore, so i wouldnt write it off completely.

I'm not too fussed either way. 16gb + 64gb card does me just fine :)

It's the SD card not the battery, I had a similar problem on the S3 with a 32Gb Sandisk was fine for a couple of month, then it killed the power out of the battery got hot also killed my simcard aswell, battery was fine but i did have to do a full reset of the phone to sort it out properly, replaced the Sandisk with a Samsung no problems after that.

Interesting......

Well i got home from work, stuck it on charge while i had a shower, and it was ok for about an hour unplugged, then it just died. Went from 100% to nothing almost instantly. This is with the SD card installed.

I'm leaning towards it being the battery, guess i will find out when i get the new one from Mobilefun tomorrow. I wish i knew someone with an S4 so i could borrow their battery! lol

Still debating flashing MF8 back on. I take it you can downgrade flash a ROM if you need to?

If you've got an S3 pop one of those batteries in and see if it gives the same issue

So i just tried my freshly delivered new battery! No different....!

Next step factory data reset. If that doesn't work I'm going to re flash MF8.

If that doesn't work Amazon will be called!

delete all the data from the internal storage too for good measure. You normally have to do that manually as a data reset only deletes system partition.

Will do. Cheers. :)

Also I've just noticed this too.....

No way is that figure of 5gb correct. I noticed it had gone up a bit the other day, and the 3.7gb gallery cant be right either. Its at most 1.5gb....

Something wrong with the ROM? I can flash back down to MF8 from MGA can I?

Yes, that should be fine.

That gallery app does indeed look dodgy. Mine like 18MB on my S3 and 11MB on my S4. My S3 has a few GB's of photos too.

Quickpic says 42MB as I use that the most and that has more cached files.
