Hello I am looking to build a new gaming pc and I have a budget of around 1300, I don't mind going a bit over if its a big upgrade for the price and if I can make one for a bit cheaper then that's sweet as well. I do not need a mouse, keyboard, os or monitors. I have a 1tb HDD so Id like to use that for storage. The monitors I have are 1680x1050 and 1600x980. Would be nice if the pc looks fancy but not at the expense of better parts or more money.

My current pc is just on 5 years old now so I think its time for an upgrade. The only part of my pc I can see being re-usable is the GPU maybe a HIS ATI Radeon HD 6950 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card. Is this even worth re-using? If not I may just keep this pc as a back-up or give it to my brother or something.

The game I play mostly is World of Warcraft 25man raiding so I would like to be able to play on ultra comfortably while 25man raiding but I play a lot of other games as well I get off steam like Skyrim and others.

I was thinking of a spec like this maybe? I have never overclocked before but I would be willing to try it eventually if its easy enough.

MSI HD 7970 Lightning BOOSTED Edition 3072MB - Seems a good card and it comes with the free games and items I could resell.

Intel Core i7-4770K 3.50GHz (Haswell) - WoWs a cpu heavy game and I do run some stuff in the background a lot while playing and stream everynow and again for friends. Also something I read about it being more friendly to xfire if I go down that route?

Kingston HyperX Beast 16GB (2x8GB) PC3-19200C11 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit - Same as above I guess, can someone tell me why this is cheaper than the Corsair equivalent?

Samsung 250GB SSD 840 SATA 6Gb/s Basic - I might get the 128GB version, the read speed is the same as the pro so is there really any need for the higher write speed and whats the point getting that?

Im not entirely sure what Motherboard and Power-supply to get, and a case that would allow me to maybe xfire in the future. I was looking at the H100 refurbished models and they seem a steal, but im wondering what would be better a H100 or the mount doom cooler?

Hopefully Ive not missed any information out of that and it was easy to read. Is 1300 a bit too much for a high-end gaming pc? I use the pc for just about everything and I game a lot.
Thanks for reading.

Seems pretty good, isn't getting 2400MHz on the memory worth it though? I can leave out the 2TB HDD, My 1tb I have atm still has a fair bit of space. I forgot to ask should I be looking to get a Nvidia or AMD card?

ok drop the hdd and get some faster ram , but as a gamer i dont think you will get much out of the extra mhz and if you overclock you will have to drop the 2400mhz for cpu to be overclocked, but if you got the spare cash then why not ?

as for amd ,nvidia , you will get told both are good or one is better then other ,i personally have had both in the last 3 years and just go with what i think is best for me at the time, and as the 7970 comes with 8 games and is great for gaming and will be for some time , thats why i picked it

Alright sounds sweet, I like the sounds of that 7970 as I could sell the games/mouse off to make something back. Ill be looking to purchase this around this weekend I think so if anyone has any other options/prices I'd like to see.

That ram above would save me money and I can always upgrade like you said. Not like I need 2x8gb anyway, I doubt ill ever need to go to 32gb in the next few years.

unless you start video/picture editing i daubt it , im still rocking out 6gb for gaming i dont ever come close to its max

I forgot to ask, are the fans to go on the H100 or just to go inside the case somewhere? Id like to this to be quiet if its possible.

My room can get rather dusty atm very easily due to a hole in the ceiling in the hall, are there any type of dust filters or such I could use that wont restrict air-flow until I get it sorted.

The MSI 7970 is back to normal price, unfortunately. The Asus Matrix is on offer though.

If you need to drop anything to reduce the budget, get the 4670K instead.

yes they are for h100 , and i believe the case has dust filters but maybe someone can confirm

and as msi lightening is now £429

maybe the asus matrix as teppic said

or

vapor x edtion

YOUR BASKET
1 x Asus HD 7970 Matrix Platinum 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £379.99
1 x Sapphire HD 7970 VAPOR-X GHZ 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £329.99
Total : £722.88 (includes shipping : £10.75).

The Asus Matrix and the MSI Lightning are the top 7970 cards, but only one is on offer now.

If you want to really go for it, 2x7950s including the 16 games which should knock off about £100+.

Would 2x7950's be better though? I was thinking of eventually down the line adding a 2nd 7970 but I guess by then it would be out-of-date.

The 7950 is only a little bit short of the 7970 in performance. Two of them would leave a 7970 well behind and only cost a bit more than a high end 7970 once you sell off the 2x8 game codes. It's a brilliant option for Crossfire, but you're looking at nearly £500 upfront.

me personally would stick with one card but many people have two.
it will cost you abit more for 2x7950s but they can be overclocked easily to unpar with non o/c 7970s

If it batters the 7970 then sure why not, its a option for me. If its going to be about 500 up front till I sell some codes, would two of them beat the 780 as its not far off the price.

Hmm the MSI card seems a bit more powerful? though I have a HIS card now and have had no problems with them, is the blower fan worth the extra few quid?
