No matter who Ferguson had recommended or the club chose they were always going to be saying 'there was only one candidate', you don't undermine someone taking over pretty much the biggest job in football now by saying you were considering others. Nothing is confirmed either way so the assumption him being the only one is also 'complete and utter tripe'.

I understand your point and actually agree with it, but you're completely missing my point. NokkunWud said that 'apparently' we offered the job to Ancelotti; well, no we didn't. Just as we didn't put a bid in for Thiago or Bale. No facts at all so no point saying 'we apparently' offered the job to someone else, because it's completely made up. It would be silly to assume that the job wasn't offered to someone else, but since we don't know for certain what's the point of discussion?
