Hi guys,

I've always had this problem, I find it extremely difficult to leave bed when first waking up. I have absolutely no energy and aches and pains.

I'm one of those people who is definitely not a morning person and have energy when the Sun goes down! This may be partly due to me working nights I imagine.

I'm not talking about, yup difficult to wake up, I'm talking about getting up and falling asleep again when you're out of bed and being in pain.

What are your tips. Personally I normally need to listen to some loud music and drink a black coffee to even get my body going.

I go through phases, hot weather has been making me lazier in the mornings as my sleep has not been so good.

If I run in the morning that really wakes me up.

Nope, out of bed normally as soon as i am awake. Personally find that the minty blast of brushing my teeth and then keep moving around rather than crashing down somewhere else in the house is better for staying awake whilst the brain starts to work ...

I wish i did struggle getting out of bed. I get up the second i wake up as i can never get back to sleep, doesn't matter whether it's 4am or 7am.

As long as I get up within 5mins of waking up I'm fine - it's dozing in bed for 30mins before getting up which ruins me for the day.

Also getting less than my usual 6.5 hours sleep.

You might look at your bed / mattress. I had this for a while. Moved house and ended up with a different bed and been fine since.

Nope I wake up 5 minutes before my alarm everyday and as soon as it goes off I'm up. Don't get me wrong I could stay in bed for another two hours but then I wouldn't make it to work on time..

I have always struggled. For some reason I seem to be programmed to wake up late and go to bed late. This seems to be my preferred sleep pattern. I'd probably be an ideal candidate for night work. Luckily I can get away with 5 odd hours sleep but it does make the morning a struggle.

Never struggle tbh, I bore stupidly easy from just laying in bed on mornings, It's not so bad in the evenings when watching a film or something though.

No because I am starving when I wake up and the sooner I get up the sooner I can have some yummy porridge!

People who do not eat breakfast because they are not hungry confuse the hell out of me - it is the longest you go without food, how can you not be hungry?! I guess you could have another thread on that can of worms.

LOL! Nothing wrong with a coffee for breakfast, another for lunch, and a main meal in the evening!

Food gets me up, as soon as I wake up. I may last half an hour or so but then I MUST get some food or I feel like I'm imploding.

Only if I was unusually intoxicated the previous night. Even then the draw of the fridge's inviting glow, calling me for a morning beer is usually enough to get me showered and shaved before 7am.

I have a strange morning routine which I think helps me.

06:00 get up and go eat my porridge with Blueberries
06:20 go do my "Toilet Business"
06:30 I return to bed and sleep until 07:00, when I wake up I am as fresh as a daisy! :)

I never have problems getting up, I think it's a mental thing. Despite some mornings feeling pretty "done in" after late nights I always find that I'm wide awake within 30 mins to an hour.

Even when I was working 8am - 8pm and going to bed abour 3 or 4am every morning I would wake up dizzy, half asleep and barely being able to open my eyes. I still managed to get up and go though.

Change diet and go cold turkey on caffeine, it helps a lot, but doing shift work, it will never be good, as theirs no routine, routine is the biggest factor.
You do have a much deeper sleep with no caffiene.
