Building on my previous thread about patents and checking them. I have my idea, I want to develop it further, to a workable state.

Now, I know in my head how I would like it to be, and can illustrate that in child like moron finger painting, but would like a proper drawing of this produced.

Would this be a product designer? Design engineer? Whaa?

Any on here? I need advice!! There is genius in this head of mine...

I can do CAD drawings, I've done a bit of product design too.

That's pretty much all you need initially, someone who can turn your ideas into technical drawings.

theres a website for finding people to do website , cad , animation work etc but I can't remember what it's called.

there's always a risk of someone stealing your idea though if it's not patented

Yea, I know. I did think about this as well and I was going to ask what the deal is generally with that? Contractual, or just trust?

It depends, contractual if you don't know them at all, but if they're a friend you know you can trust, then, well trust.

I have a product design degree and my job is a design engineer (well my name tag actually says CAD design Engineer).

I'd be happy to lend a hand.

Not to boast, but i have to have my technical drawings checked by one of the biggest aerospace companies in the UK/world.

Well i guess you could even draw up a vauge contract, just saying "if you steal my idea you owe me £XX millions".

Good luck to you, sir. I'm a CAD technician as it stands, with a BEng, but really would like to be doing product design. It's just a wonderful field.

Look into patents and IP law; you'll need legal input into this if it's anything remotely serious.

Yea, agreed. I know of someone who is a patent lawyer I am going to contact as soon as I have something tangible and see what the crack is.
