Seems arsenal have gone quite now and it's the players all talking about him, hate it when players do that just to try unsettle them even more guess doesn't matter since Suarez is being a whiny git anyway

Rumours circulating premier league could get involved if Suarez decides to take us to court over this clause, he did this to ones of his previous clubs also :/

Well come on, lets be honest, if a player asks for a 40mil release clause and the club put in one worded marginally differently with the direct intention of screwing the player.... I'd say Liverpool deserve it.

Seriously what player wants a clause at 40mil that the club don't accept the offer but he's allowed to either be told or talk to the other club... a taunting clause. "Hey, Real offered £40mil so you can talk to them, they are offering 400k a week, but we're not accepting the deal.... lol, suck it".

I honestly don't much care about Liverpool or Suarez, I just under no circumstances want him at Arsenal. He's a complete **** and he is no where near as good as people are making him out to be. 52 shots in the 9 league losses where from the ones I remember he was his previous 18 month can't hit a barn door self. Confed cup, he was terrible overall.

With Fabregas, this seems like how much power agents have. Agent tells Utd client is interested(client probably doesn't know) so Utd keep making offers while the player categorically says he has no intention of leaving, he'd only consider his circumstances if his club tells him to pee off. So agent and maybe the other club keep leaking in the press the player wants to leave, which leads the club to start to question his commitment and eventually give in and accept a large offer... at which point the player now believes he's not wanted.

that's a shock - don't worry though, he'll still be a Liverpool player once the transfer window closes. He gives his all even if he doesn't want to play for a team, etc etc

There has to be more to this clause though I know we as a club have done some silly mistakes but I don't think we would be that stupid well I hope

I think Liverpool are just being a bit desperate in how they've read the clause where Suarez and his people have just taken it as a standard release clause, if they did this sneakily on purpose, who knows.

While I'd enjoy Liverpool getting screwed I actually want the clause to be meaningless.... well IF my retarded club and its retarded manager insist on buying the biggest **** in football today... I hope we get him as cheap as possible. If the clause being ignored means Liverpool don't sell to Arsenal.... I'd be VERY happy.

I hope the Suarez stuff passes us by. I think he is a great player but under no circumstances want him at the club. The baggage is just too great (although I think it's all a bit of a nonsense) and every away game will be a chorus of boo's, it's just not worth the contribution he may make.

The market in the PL seems dead. Even the teams with the big money don't seem to be able to secure the players they are supposedly chasing. From an Arse perspective its a shame as the squad seems to have had a really good preseason so far and look up for it but they will return to London with no one to bolster the squad.

Wenger rarely gets anyone he wants these days (mata, Navas, or keeping players he doesn't want rid of), neither do Spurs who have tried to buy every striker in the world in the past 3-4 seasons. City already got several players, Chelsea really didn't need anyone else, just a year longer gelling together, but they've brought a couple in anyway. Yeah they seemed to maybe want Cavani, I think they are just messing with Utd over Rooney but you never know. Utd are going after targets who aren't available to them to start with. Maybe a little bit of new manager, new director guy being all "We're at Utd, everyone wants to join Utd, this will be easy" when in reality Utd still have to go after realistic targets.

Last couple years we only bought a couple people early, then Wenger's panicky last minute Mert, Arteta, Santos, Park.

Look across Europe, Bayern won everything and have made two real buys while also getting rid of at least one player. Barca have lost two players, bought Neymar, Real haven't done much of anything that I can remember. The only team going mental with buying is Monaco because they are in the start of their rebuilding phase. For some reason there were expectations for similar rebuilds from other clubs, which was just never on the cards.

Eh isn't the clause to be let Suarez talk to arsenal according to his agent, so I don't see how that's a 40mil release clause myself, if the argument is between letting the player talk to them or just having to inform him of the bid

I think it's because him/agent see it as a release and if that's case and we say no it's why he will take it to court again it's rumours but something he has done before

For the clause to "allow the player to talk to over teams" then surely its a release clause from the club otherwise what would the point be?!

Liverpool are dragging their heels over a technicality that it doesn't explicitly say "have to sell once this fee is met" when it's what the clause implies and what the FA will insist it means (as I imagine most release clauses are worded in this way).

Yup and if that's the case either way we lose out :(

This is implying you know what the clause says, which you don't

Can take an educated guess though, Arsenal are saying they have activated a release clause for Suarez, Liverpool are denying it and demanding more money, Suarez is sitting quietly saying the FA can work it out...

Pretty sure the sensible conclusion is there is a badly worded £40m release clause in his contract that Liverpool are trying to get out of/get £50m from and everyone else is waiting for the dust to settle.

read today's telegraph, arsenal fans. rodgers is getting catty and saying a move to arsenal would be a 'step down' and doesn't calculate :p

i'm starting to like the bloke

Not really. It could just as easily mean that, once the clause is met, you can talk to the club. If you like what they offer, then you can push for a move. If you don't like it you don't need to waste your time.

It's just showing whether or not the club is serious about signing the player.
