Still a very small chance Barca could be playing (extreme) hardball, I think there would need to be truth to the rumours that Cesc wants out before they'd accept a bit, as suspected. According to the BBC quotes, the manager was slightly less assured than what I posted earlier: "I'm not going to involve myself in the club's accounts, but considering the club has already rejected two offers, I would guess it will reject a third," Martino said. Bartomeu was just repeating what he said already, I don't know if he'd have the final say or not.

So next up is Ronaldo > Bale > Modric, in that order. ;) I wouldn't be against Fellaini on the cheap but he isn't a first team player and will be useless in Europe with his blundering physical style.

Fellaini and nobody else isn't an option, I'm sure the club will know that, especially if we fail to get Cesc.

Marco Verratti has put in a transfer request at PSG, thought that he's available for around €20m.

If that's true then Man Utd should be all over that transfer. Solid midfielder who can tackle and pass, great energy and is very young. At that price he's a snip, even at more he's worth a shot. He may not be the major name around but he's absolutely ideal for our needs.

He's been an FM sensation for many years now! Not seen much of him in real life though.

I guess Arsenal fans can now breathe a huge sigh of relief seeing as Fabregas isnt going to Utd anytime soon:p. Was a scary prospect that another ex Arsenal player going to Utd, thankfully Barca finally thought enough is enough and told Utd to go do one as they wont be selling him anytime soon...took them long enough and i dont think Fab would go to Utd as it is...maybe if Fergie was there he would but not with Moyes.

If I were you I'd be worried. That story reads to me exactly like the ones where a club comes out and says that they are 100% behind their manager. We all know what that means :p

But it really is hard to see Barca agreeing to sell and even then hard to believe that Fabregas is actually open to a move - but something must be driving the bids.

I haven't seen a solid source on that Veratti stuff, just seems like twitter garbage. Got anything?

Bar the whole Napoli stuff which PSG came out and said wasn't going to happen.

he certainly shouldn't be starting for Man U. Not if you wanna compete that is..:p

People are quoting ESPN but there's nothing on any ESPN sites about it.

Pretty sure I read Veratti was signing for Napoli?

Edit: Or maybe not..

Napoli are trying to sign him, but haven't yet.

Im not in the slightest worried, Barca have more or less said that any bid will be rejected unless its something stupid like £60mill+ and even then i cannot see Fab wanting to go to Utd. Why would he leave a team that has a infinitely better chance of winning trophies to a team that has a new manager and not guaranteed to win any trophies next season.

Like i said i always believed Fab wouldnt go to Utd and if he did then im sure Arsenal would have something to say about that:p. Seeing as we put a clause in to buy Fab back for 40mill euros;)...

All that was reported is that Napoli wanted him, tried to get him as part of the Cavani deal, PSG said no way and then Napoli tried to go back with 30mil Euros or so, to which they were told no again.

Apparently.

He's excellent, recently bossed the England under-21's too which a very impressive pass tally. Tidy, strong and is only likely to get better.

Is he heck, why do you think he's put in a transfer request, he's not going to get the games, he certainly shouldn't be starting for Man U. Not if you wanna compete that is..
He has been playing, but maybe he wants more minutes. Maybe he's not happy in France.

And in what way wouldn't we compete? He's a young, quality midfielder who passes and tackles well.

We will take ages to miss all our main targets and go into the season without re-enforcements or we will overspend on Fellaini which is not where our problem lies. My money is firmly on Chelsea this season. Great team, great balance with loads of options to change a game.

There must be loads of quality midfielders out there because everyone else seems to unearth midfield talent pretty easily. Mata, Cazorla and Coutinho. In fact, how far down the league do you have to go before you find a weaker midfield than Uniteds at the moment.
