Well that's my £250 down the drain. Never mind. At least he won't be lining up against us next season.

While it's disheartening, Barcelona were always going to say something along these lines. "Not for sale at any price" is absolute rubbish, everyone has a price, except maybe Messi. Especially as we're talking here about a player who isn't even an automatic first 11 starter (when Xavi is available).

I just hope we are working on something else at the same time, in the (admittedly likely) event we don't manage to get Cesc. Preferably not just Fellaini - thankfully we haven't really been linked with him at all, it's just the press (and hysterical fans) assuming Moyes would be in for him.

To put things in perspective, we paid £30m for Ferdinand in 2002, our revenues have gone up since then and all manner of things, so there's no reason we couldn't table a bid of £50m if we so wished. That would give them something to think about.

Looks like barca are saying not for sale AGAIN on fab. I suppose this is just selling tactics again though...

Wonder who breaks first fab or Suarez?

I think the Suarez situation will get ugly, but Arsenal will eventually nab him, if he's decided he wants to go there.

Will be very strange though, I can't picture it.

Suarez surely. Anyway, this, until now, unknown release clause in Fab's contract puts a whole different outlook on things.

I haven't seen the release clause reported anywhere reliable, people have said it's on Sky Sports but I can't find it. It also seems pretty low.

Seems like its only SSN reporting it with their so called transfer expert Kaveh or whatever his name is:p.

Although on Daily Mail they are reporting the same thing buts the daily mail so wouldnt take it as gospel:p:

Despite the former Gunners captain's stance, Arsene Wenger still believes he would choose a move back to the Emirates Stadium if the clause in his contract that allows them first refusal was met.

Arsene Wenger is interested in bringing his golden boy back this summer at the cut-price fee of £25million, but was told he wanted to spend at least one more year in Barcelona.

The clause inserted into his deal when the former La Masia graduate was sold back to the Catalan giants, triggers when the club accept an offer from a rival club.

So, in theory, Barca could accept a £50million offer for Fabregas, but still be forced to sell the midfielder to Arsenal for £25m. The move, of course, would be dependent on him agreeing to return to north London.

Take that as you will:).

.

Why do people think he had a bad year barely starting? He had a great season, his only down side was he wasn't always played in his favourite role.

Appearances 48
Games started 38
Started on the bench 18
Substitute in 10
Substitute out 23
Minutes played 3433
Goals scored 15
Assists 20
Shots 74
Shots on goal 37
Fouls committed 40
Fouls suffered 81
Yellow cards 8
Red cards 0

Doesn't look like a player struggling to get into first 11

If Cesc came back, I think he would be more than open to returning to Arsenal. That leaves Barca in a very dangerous position. Even if they accepted a £100m bid, if Fab wanted to go to Arsenal, they would be forced to take the clause figure.

The 25m is a first option clause. The actual release clause is £34m. However, this would be significantly lowered by monies still outstanding from the Alex Song transfer. So basically, even a £50m bid from Man U would be a waste of time.

I didn't say that, I just said that, at the moment (unless this is about to change), he doesn't start ahead of Xavi. The argument could also be made he isn't a direct replacement for Xavi as he doesn't play in the same way - though I don't care to argue about that. So in that situation he doesn't start ahead of Iniesta either. He's sometimes a sub, or sometimes started in the wide positions, where they've added Neymar.

Another thing, I believe the majority of his minutes were against league opposition, mid table and so on. He featured less in the CL etc.
