Parts of a national forest in California have been evacuated and closed down after a squirrel was found to be infected with the plague.

How much of this is really a problem? I guess rats are still a big carrier of this, but cute little squirrels as well?!

What if this attacks a dog or cat (as we see in those most comical youtube videos), would that turn it into Outbreak the film!?

Jonathan Fielding, director of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, told the BBC that agriculture workers would dust squirrel burrows in order to reduce the flea population.
That's so reassuring considering that Squirrels live in dreys which are high up in trees and not in burrows.

It shows how reliant we are on antibiotics, the biggest pandemic outbreaks in human history killing hundreds of millions could have been stopped with a simple antibiotic.

Makes you realise how serious it is now we are getting resistant bacteria and no new antibiotics developed for decades (afaik)

I thought you were referring to the retarded title of oh meh guurd, writing stuff like that does appear to be a plague thats hit the youth these days ........

Aren't most people immune to it now? Or at least resistant. Any desiese that wipes out 2/3 of the human population is going to leave behind mostly resistant people, who will pass on those genes.
