I just replaced a cracked iPhone 4 screen and discovered that the protective cover over the old LCD screen was still on.
The phone still worked perfect with it on, how come?
I always remove it when I replace a cracked screen BTW.
So how come the old one still worked with it still on?

Thanks.

I contacted the supplier i get my iphone LCD screens from and he tells me that the LCD red sticker does not need to be removed for the fitting process.

Is this correct?

Thanks in advance.

It's there to protect the mirror film on the back which reflects the light from the led's, if its a colourd film that colour may also reflect and dis colour the LCD, but that may not be that noticeable. Also it adds an extra layer which may cause problems when you press the screen and you see the screen go all funny as the LCD is compressing against the rear of the middle frame. And also if someone else takes a look and sees it they will assume some amateur changed the screen last.

Thank you HAz, that is well explained, I understand now.

Thanks again.
