I'm talking about him going to Real Madrid. I don't think we'll get him. Not that I'd mind.

I hardly think I've done much wrong with Fabregas either, I've merely stated that I don't think we'll get him, but it's possible.

I'm not sure what you are getting upset about. Surely even you know that you're nothing compared to Real Madrid.

I'd quite like Modric though, for sure.

How is it possible???!!!! Barca have never wanted to sell fabregas has never wanted to leave barca. Barcelona moved heaven and earth to sign fabregas then they're just going to sell him?????

fair enough. just don't believe anything you read in marca

The current Marca / Bale article:

"You made me a promise. You promised me if we didn't qualify for the Champions League and a good offer turned up you'd listen to it. Well that offer has arrived and I want to play for Real Madrid. So keep your word and negotiate".

Daniel Levy, who is famed for being a hard business man, discovered the hard way that 24 year-old Gareth Bale doesn't beat about the bush. Accustomed as he is to tough meetings, the one Levy had with the player last Wednesday in London was a real eye opener.

Bale was just as direct in his approach to the Chairman as he is when he plays on the pitch of White Hart Lane. The Welsh forward left little room for doubt: "I'm not interested in Manchester United or any other club. I only want to play for Real Madrid." Bale is under contract at Spurs until 2016 but his agent, Jonathan Barnett, struck up a deal with Florentino Pérez and José Angel Sánchez in a meeting held in Madrid on 25th June. Should the deal be accepted, Bale will spend the next six seasons at the Santiago Bernabéu, where he stands to earn between €9 and 10 million.

The clock is ticking and although there has been no official response to Real Madrid's initial offer as yet, which amounts to just over €60 million, at Tottenham an air of resignation is seeping in as they are beginning to accept the inevitable. It is clear that where Bale would really rather be next week, rather than in Hong Kong, is in LA...and dressed in white.

The Luka Modric article from last year:

Luca Modric has accused Tottenham of breaking a promise to let him join Real Madrid, according to reports from Spain.

Marca, which has close ties to Madrid, claim that Modric was told by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy that he could leave White Hart Lane if the club failed to qualify for the Champions League and a significant bid came in.

Madrid are believed to have made an opening bid of £25 million for Modric with Tottenham yet to respond. Chelsea are also said to be in the hunt for the Croat but Modric is said to have his heart set on the Spanish capital.

Marca report that Modric met Levy for showdown talks last Wednesday in London, telling him: "You made me a promise. You promised me if we didn't qualify for the Champions League and a good offer turned up you'd listen to it.

"Well that offer has arrived and I want to play for Real Madrid. So keep your word and negotiate. I'm not interested in Manchester United or any other club. I only want to play for Real Madrid."

They probably put something in the tea at spurs the resemblance is uncanny. Ronaldo - Benzema - Bale frontline scary

soldado signing may have stepped up a gear. not sure if liverpool genuinely have an interest to him so if he comes to the pl , it is likely to be spurs

Reports in Spain say that Valencia coach Miroslav Djukic has admitted that the possibility of Roberto Soldado leaving is real and the hunt has begun for his replacement.

Source: Sky Sports

Andre Villas-Boas has confirmed that the striker remains a transfer target for Tottenham Hotspur, despite Valencia previously warning that they will have to meet his release clause of €30milion (£25.8m).

A number of other clubs, including Liverpool, have also been linked with a move for Soldado, and Djukic admits he is expecting further developments.

"The possibility that he will leave is real," Djukic is quoted as saying by local sports daily Super Deporte.

"Soldado is our striker and if he stays then he will be the reference point up front."

The uncertainty over Soldado's future has not prevented Valencia from beginning to look to add to their front line, as Djukic insists his squad needs strengthening whether he stays or goes

"Valencia are working on various options in case Salgado does leave, but we have too (few) forwards, either with Soldado or especially without him," he added.

Soldado is a fans' favourite and it is thought it is unlikely that he will ask to leave, but Djukic insists that even if he did it would not be a disaster.

"We have to remember though that Valencia the club is greater than any player," he concluded.

Soldado returned to Valencia on Friday and is set to join up with his team-mates on Saturday.

I just put 10 down on Spurs to win the league, 33-1 odds....liking it. Really hope they get Bale nailed down on a new contract and Soldado up front, Spurs could be real real title contenders. The odds will drop a lot i presume if they wrap up those two. :p

I like AVB, he was unfairly treated at Chelsea..

Haha, I'll be waiting, I'm afraid Spurs squad isn't good enough whatsoever to challenge for the title and you know what they're like the minute Bale is injured... ;)

Yeah that's the thing, i back my bet if they sign Bale down on a long term contract and wrap up Soldado, that Paulinho looks like he could chip in with a few. Chelsea will be ones if any that run away with it i feel. City will be interesting though..

In Spain a lot of teams won't press in the opponents own halfway line. Thing is, if you give RM and Barca space they will punish you. IMO pressure, push and Harry even the best players and they will make mistakes.

Only thing with Bale, and I mean the only thing is that he's very much an eggs in one basket player.

He can be quite prone to injury, and a bad one could see him out for a time period that could put an end to any top 4 hopes. However, with 70m, they could buy 3 or 4 players and add a nice depth to the squad, so injuries become less of a problem. Even if spurs qualify for the champs league. How long will it be before he wants to leave for a team that actually has half a chance of winning it. A problem we might end up in with Suarez if we sign him.

Edit, that wasnt in response to you oneshot. just a general decent video i saw recently

Wow that video got boring, each comment could be summed up as "when they got the ball, they played football like most teams" . It was a ridiculously good Bayern side against a ridiculously poor Barca side, as in very few first team players, no match at all. He paused like the one moment as the team moved that there was a 4-1-4-1 line up on the pitch, which wasn't see at any other point in the first couple mins of the video and said that was the formation.

The quality of opposition and preseason makes determining an actual game plan very difficult to see, but Barca in Guardiola's final two years wouldn't have played half of those balls, wouldn't have attacked as directly at all. Bayern played precisely as they did against Barcelona last season, nothing more or less.

Hooper is very highly rated so it'll be interesting to see how he does for you. Thank god he didn't go to QPR.

wanyama is even more highly rated, so im more interested in seeing how he develops.

imo a lot of big clubs missed the bargain of the year tbh, even at £12.5 million he has gone for cheap, he is only 22 yet plays like an experienced veteran, strength to match yaya, always looking for the ball. the only thing which looks suspect tbh is his stamina. will be interesting to see if he can cope with the premiership.

he could easily walk into united's midfield i reckon, take barry's place at city, mikel's at chelsea, etc.

there's now 4 ex celtic player's in southampton's team.

i'm surprised nobody bigger came in for him tbh.

Great Wenger has said it...we can challenge without signing anyone...
