Myself and the girlfriend are looking to go up to Scotland for a long week driving around and seeing the sights in October. I went camping the other weekend and saw a lot of those campervans that people were using and thought to myself that one of those would be good as we could then stay anywhere we wanted and there is no mucking about putting up tents if we camped or paying for youth hostels/B&Bs.

I suppose they are a bit like the VM camper vans but more modern something like this : http://www.kernowcampervanhire.co.uk/

Anyway, here comes the question. Has anyone on here rented one before and can you recommend a rental company to use?

Me and the Gf took a Brazilian camper upto Scotland last year for a couple of weeks doing the whole wild camping thing. Even popped over to the Isle of Mull for some whale watching from Tobermory.

Based in south Reading near M4: www.kevskampers.com

Oh and the wild camping was fantastic, loads of POI's loaded into your sat nav that people constantly update. Some places we stopped had epic views (and its free to park :D). http://www.wildcamping.co.uk/

That's really helpful, will check it out now!

We were looking at hiring one up here to tour Scotland but were put off by the ridiculous prices. Most charge by the day at £115 and upwards per day. Then there is the £500-750 security deposit plus the cost of fuel on top of that. It's cheaper to have a fortnight abroad!!
