Budget PC £300

I'd give them a call to swap out that 1333MHz RAM with 1600MHz. Shouldn't cost any more really.

I had originally left it too late to ring them, so just thought I would have to live with it, but then the order was supposed to be delivered today so I went onto my account to find my tracking number but my status still said in warehouse.

I give OCUK a call and they explained that the case I had chosen was out of stock so the order had not been dispatched the case is not due in for another week so I have swapped it for the original motherboard that I wanted (but was out of stock when I placed the order) and gone back to micro ATX. I also upgraded the memory

these are the replacement parts:

Personally I would go with a cheaper Cooler Master case / PSU combo, cheaper processor / mobo and try to squeeze in a 120-128GB SSD.

The speed will be noticeably faster for her needs, in my opinion.

I'll see if I can Spec something to include one.

The processor is slower than most have listed, but I do think the SSD will more than make up that considering what she is likely to use it for. Also could upgrade the CPU later down the line quite easily.

If she's happy to pay a little more, you could get a quad core CPU for not too much more and would make the build spot on in my opinion.

Thanks for your input, but both your specs are over budget and the order has already been placed.

The last spec was under budget, but good luck with the build, I'm sure it will be a big improvement.

Yeah we must have posted at the same time lol.

Yes Im sure it will be a huge improvement but that doesn't take much looking at her old system lol

You / she can always add in a SSD at a later date for further big improvement, SSD prices are likely to fall soon I hope anyway!

I'm hoping to get a 120GB SSD for my wife's comp, but waiting for them to drop back down the the £50 mark, like there were last year... lol

I have a spare 60gb SSD from when I replaced my own with a 250gb so I might pop that in for her as a boot drive.

Yes I have definitely warmed to the intel build I have swapped the case because she like the coolermaster case and kept the faster dvd writer in the build but im not sure if this is necessary as that motherboard only has 1 6gb/s port any thoughts?
