and if you said that about someone with learning difficulties or a different skin tone or religious viewpoint you'd be called out on it, it's funny how crooked a perspective people seem to have.

When were gingers ever gassed, enslaved or murdered for who they are? Never, get over it, deal with it and move on. Dye your hair if it bothers you that much, or stand up for yourself. All this will do is isolate people with red hair even more.
It comes from a medieval belief that Red Hair was associated with witchcraft and could mean that te person was either a vampire or werewolf depending on the region.
The Malleus Maleficarum Gives certain markers and indicators on how to discern witches and demons, red hair was thought to be a sign of immorality and promiscuity....mainly due to the inherit Roman descriptions of the northern Caledonian tribes which has a high incidence of red hair, and the assumption that they were wilder and less civilised than normal men.....
Add to this Egyptian prejudice where they used to sacrifice redhaired men to their Gods in return for good harvests and the further negativity and demonisation spread by Shakespeare and by its association in Western Early medieval crusader culture with Mohammed and Judas.....
In England there was also the association during the Civil War and Cromwellian Puritan Periods with the Scots and Irish and the prejudices and demonisation therein.
All in all, Ginger hair people are pretty much ****** in Western Europe, especially in Spain and along the Mediterrean, not to mention England.
This simply didn't translate in North America, probably due to the large immigration from the Irish.

You dont want any of the gingers, plenty more for me then....freckles, red hair, green eyes...maybe an Irish accent...
I know this one doesnt have some of those qualities...but shes quite a good actress![]()

That can't be his actual hair, surely? He looks like a cabbage patch doll.
I had a terrible time at school with bullying, all because of the colour of my hair. Even to this day at the age of 35 I still get the odd moron who'll hurl abuse in the street, even had cars slow down so they can yell abuse about my hair colour!![]()
Got no problem with the odd joke and no its not as bad as racism but when there people are who get seriously nasty and violent because of the colour of someones hair, something should be done about it.
Oh and its true, we have no souls and I'm a true blood (pale skin, red hair and freckles)![]()
People against people for the simply colours of their hair should achieve themselves a lifes.
Redheads, you say?
the real question is why do you believe that it is socially acceptable to "make fun" of gingers?
i doubt as an adult if someone came out with similar stuff to what they present when you were a child it would be socially acceptable but ginger "jokes" seem to be socially acceptable.
Hnng.
Throw a Fife accent and I'll need to change my trousers.
I think his name is Carrot Top.
Just googled him now, thanks.
I can't understand the 'rights' part of the march? Will bald people be marching the month after in a protest?
Point me in the direction of a Fifian accent so that I can sharesies.
