Car shortlist - MR2 / MX5 (mk1 or mk2?)

I'd go for alignment first (I should get my one done soon) and see how you go. My one is on fairly fresh OEM suspension and TBH I find it great on the roads. Yes it rolls a bit but it has a really fun feel to the way it drives and even an oaf like me can feel what the car is doing under my bum cheeks. I have also had metal bits to speed bump interface which puts me off going lower!

I was all set to brace the heck out of my one but other than more skuttle shake than I was expecting I'm chuffed with how it drives as is.

So.., it seems the white one is a bit of a rustbucket according to Steve at goodwood so that one he's avoiding.

But on the plus side, he's offered one he's just got in which seems pretty nice - he's getting pictures together - but from what I've found online it's like the one below.

1.8 Eunos - British racing green, tan leather - randomly with ABS brakes, stainless steel exhaust, electric windows/mirrors etc.

Fingers crossed, if it's all good I'll be collecting it in a couple of weeks odd :).

^ that's not the actual one, just the same paint job/interior (1.8 Eunos British Racing Green V-Special) - awaiting pictures of the actual one.

So ... getting closer to a potential buying opportunity (still awaiting pictures but will be a quick collection ... I say quick, 1 plane 2 trains & a taxi, then a long drive) - but if it turns out to be a turkey I may broaden my options a little.

The question is, if the above doesn't work out - what else would meet the criteria of...

1. Roadster 2 door.
2. Suitable for new driver.
3. Between £2000 & £6000. (could go higher, but as it's a first car don't want to be spend too much)
4. Daily use, 10m each way so fuel efficiency isn't a major factor.
5. Insurance not a major issue as I'm 28.
6. Got a bit of poke & some style.
7. Not insane running costs, but doesn't have to be bargain basement either.

All the other suggestions you've already had :p

Basically MR2 or something like a 2 litre z4 if it's insurable
:D - ay, I just wanted to double check I hadn't missed anything!.

Z4, MR2 & MX5 all are pretty similar for insurance for me at 28 first year (all around £750) - only when I get upto 2.5/3.0 it goes upto £900(ish) which is still acceptable for me - just not £3500 :D (S2000 style!)
