WOW i was surprised to see my local Jessops camera shop is open again ...

*fingers crossed for Woolworths*

That ones going to be difficult here. The shop floor is now 4 retail units, one is a funeral directors, ones a games shop with the other two empty just now. The storage above is now converted into 4 flats :)

Radio 4 recently did an article on Jessops Take over and re-launching type thing.

Many flag ship stores retained their name after restructuring their business model for a more price matching on-line places affair (lower margins)

My Woolworths is now a 99p shop and to be honest its not that much different to what used to be there :) Every time i go past the Tills are Rammed and 10 deep queues. Must be doing well.

The two in oxford (one of them is next door to my office) are still shut . One is empty and the other is clothes for men now.

They "relocated" to Bicester Village :P The staff bought out the creditors in that one and now run independant/franchised i guess.

That was one of the stores featured on the show.

I've seen a few open again, and i have to say i'm pleased they are, i like going in for a nosy, though their pricing can be optimistic still. (£800 for a 24-105F4L) versus about £650 online (without looking). There seems to be a huge lack of photography shops on the high street, with the exception of a few indepedant stores and the odd LCE. I welcome their return, but i'd still buy online from WEX unless Jessops would price match them.

Can confirm the one in Aberdeen is open.......just picked up a nice new Nikon D7100 there......:D

Is good to see them back, but looks like they are being run on a similar model as before....not to bad a comparison for bodies etc, but pricing way too much on accessories and other parts
