Although didn't they sell their training ground to the Spanish Government/Madrid City Council in a somewhat dubious deal and then get the use of another one for peanuts? It looks rather like a sugar daddy effect but without the individual as a daddy figure. Having the Spanish Government bankrolling you when you get into trouble isn't too bad a position to be in I wouldn't have thought - at least until recently when the whole country got into a bit of financial trouble...

Yeah there is an investigation because they are thought to have breached the state aid rules, at which point the FFP rules would kick then out of Europe... So that is the last we hear of that investigation

Because it doesn't fit with what you believe? It's entirely possible, and arguable probable, given how there's been NOTHING from the Fabregas camp which has been positive towards the interest from Manyoo. No agitation for a move, etc, which one would expect if he'd told Manyoo behind the scenes that he wanted to move to them.

Who are Manyoo? Your posts are now almost 90% troll. Very bizarre, and I am sure a few years ago you used to come across quite well and informative. Oh well.

As I am sure you are aware Cesc supports Barcelona, it is therefore more probable that he is not going to start singing the praises of United and demanding a move. I am confident he would quite happily sign for United and double his salary BUT I see little chance of him signing in this window if he is given assurances about his role within his current club. Notwithstanding, signing world class players is not easy, it is not FM2008 and I imagine they are drawn out. It would be preferable if negotiations were conducted in private, but then fans would moan that nothing is happening.. .Let’s just wait and see before "Manyoo" are written off!

Fabregas would never go to united. He is a gunner threw and threw and would never join a rival club.

If he did, why dont he just join Real Madrid then? Its just as bad IMO.

Yea you can say Loyalty leans sweet FA but not all players are like that. Some do have some form of loyalty.

I disagree. He isn't a gunner 'through and through' (bloody hell), he doesn't even play for your team.

'Rival' is pushing it a bit as well.

I'm pretty sure he's at the very least considered it.

Edit:

And to clarify, I was talking about the radio station itself as well as the story, this is the story:

Cesc Fabregas’ agent denies United negotiations according to Catalunya Radio

Cesc Fabregas’ agent has denied that Manchester United have had contact with the Fabregas camp about a potential move to Old Trafford. Darren Dein denied any contact with United as Fabregas’ representation make their first statement regarding a move according to Catalunya Radio.

“We have not spoken to United,” Dein reportedly told Barcelona executives.
Fabregas joined up with his Barcelona teammates today after his extended break following Spain’s participation in the Confederations Cup and passed his medical ahead of starting pre-season training under new manager Gerardo Martino.

Dein’s denial of contact with United is in contrast to reports that emerged in England this week and while Moyes confirmed that negotiations were ongoing, it seems that United may have only be dealing with Barcelona directly.

Fabregas is expected to make a public statement this week about his future at Barcelona but Dein’s denial of any contact whatsoever with United indicates that Barcelona are going to continue to stand firm with Fabregas and it would be a big surprise if the midfielder declared his intention to leave the club given how publicly they have stood in his corner.

It's not as if he went on air and panned it all, or even said anything at all, really...

Whilst I admire your sentiment, I do think you're being slightly naive. There are very few players like Paul Scholes and Tony Adams around. Cesc's loyalty is to himself, he is not British (so the Barca/Real Madrid comparison does not really work) he can come to United earn £150,000 a week, win silverware and then retire back to Spain in 6 years or whenever. He could go down in United’s history as a legend. How would he justify this to himself? Well for one, he did not move straight from Arsenal to United and although I am sure he would find it very difficult to not feel a twinge of guilt he would get over it as United fans would be so adoring of him.

I actually do not think he will sign. I would love him to sign, but with the change of both clubs managers I would not be surprised if he fancied giving Barcelona one more year. Anyway, United must have been given some hint as it is very rare for big clubs to make big bids if there is no hope. Perhaps the more the cynical among us may see it as a way of appeasing fans but I just can’t see it as the repercussions would be embarrassing for a new manager and a new chief exec.

here we go. another united fan dreaming on robbo's level. christ. get one more onboard and i myself may start to believe it. though your first sentence shows that you don't really think it will happen and your last sentence is pretty much bang on.

I completely agree. Moyes and Woodward would have to be insane to bid what is essentially a fairly low fee for such a player, with absolutely no indication that he would join. It just wouldn't happen. Our fans are not the kind that will be appeased by this, they'll get even more annoyed by it. If anything, I suspect the club will be even more concerned with sorting something out now as they've set such a high bar (with a target of Fabregas' quality). The likes of Gundogan and Modric should be next up, I think Gundogan has even said he'd be interested in playing for us in the past, but I've no idea as to whether Dortmund would sell him.

Where have I said I think it will happen? I've only said that I'd love for it to happen (obviously), but I don't think it will and I'd be shocked if it did. Are you demonstrating your hilarious inability to read again?

I want him to sign but I do not think he will, not sure why that is difficult to understand.

of course you'd want him to sign, he's exactly what you need but it's a shut out. i am reading the same pie in the sky stuff. moyes went in with 2 ridiculous bids, it was never going to happen it was to save face with the fans. now you're on about 'modric should be next. gundogan has said he'd be interested in playing for us'. face it. it's gonna be fellaini.

go to town on me if it does happen but i just cannot see it. not fabregas, not modric, not bale who if he's going anywhere, will go to madrid.

would you lot pay him 200,000k a week?

I don't see why not (if we were serious, that is).

The fans weren't demanding he go for a target like Fabregas, so it had exactly the opposite effect. The bids are so low that I've personally no clue what they're playing at.

I'm beginning to think replying to you is a total waste of time. You've said about 20 times "HURR DURR IT'LL BE FELLAINI" and added nothing to the discussion. You never do. Ever.
