Brits moaning about Britain

Do those places you'd rather live have the British sense of humour? Can you get the BBC channels there? Can you get to rugged coastlines, mountains, idyllic villages and historic buildings within an hour or two?

I said 'there are few places' not 'there are a few places'.

IMO, you have to leave the UK in order to truly appreciate it

exactly.. and im guessing Op hasnt much - Sorry if you have but doesnt sound that way. :p

When i worked abroad a lot, oil industry, i would really appreciate getting back to the UK/London.
I suspect its just familiarity more than anything else. Im currently thinking of moving to Sweden soon. Its like the UK but they have a much better standard of employment/living balance.

Saying that ive always been a Londoner... thats goign to heavily skew my opinions as its expensive and "busy" round 'ere

I like Britain as we have a variety of weather but it doesn't come and take my home away with it.

I'd struggle to die by walking around the middle of nowhere compared to the likes of Australia I'm happy with that!

I like being close to the likes of Glasgow and Edinburgh but also if I go an hour North or South it's absolutely stunning and it feels like a different place.

No, we don't. A few of us might, and many Scottish people do, but most of us probably don't. There are many more beautiful places in the world. That said, there are few places I'd rather live as, on balance, the UK is pretty good for other more boring things.

We are free pretty much to do as we please too, not like in some other countries.

The worst thing is all you lot moaning about other people moaning about the weather.

Yeah, some people like hot weather and some like cold. We live in a country witch has both and as such the people who like the opposite will moan. Get over it :p

As the the Op, I personally think where I live is very beautiful and feel lucky that I was born here.

It's because I've lived in other countries I can see the trait in the British. I've lived in Ireland, Denmark, Sweden and a short spell in America. The people I've met in those countries have an appreciation of their country that a lot of Brits don't appear to have.

Many many many ups to living in uk.
But also stupid land prices :(, would take some off the downsides in other countries to be able to afford a decent amount of land.

Disagree, no matter where you live in the UK you're never far from beautiful countryside and fantastic architecture.

I've lived in a few other countries and now that I've come to my senses I really do think, why would you want to live anywhere else.

This i hate about uk

lack of swimming pools
quality of the housing
"power" showers
showering in a bath
the lack of consistent summer months
over crowded and small roads
over priced trains
the bbc

there are also good things but negative seems more interesting

Quite, but almost none of is it quite as dramatic or breathtaking as you'll find elsewhere in the world, though. It's merely 'nice'.

There are a few notable exceptions.

Not exactly a bad thing, you can live in countries that have mostly bleak landscapes, and the ones that are often dramatic can be hard to traverse.

So, you're in that country and looking at it's breathtaking scenery. Where do you go after you've finished looking at it? Another country? This is my point.
