So last week, a cheap EVGA GTX780 came up on eBay, brand new it's cost £500 ish. Then, two Asus Direct CUII GTX780 came up on eBay and I offered the guy £800 for the pair. He accepted so I now have 3 cards being delivered this week.

I can afford to keep all three and I don't think the EVGA would be hard to sell if I needed the cash, so my question is this.

I could have 9GB of mem on 3 GPUs for £200 more then one Titan. Is this is a good idea and am I just being a ***** wanting to have Triple SLI GTX780 cos it's cool?

You have 3GB per card to use, each card uses 3GB so you don't have 9GB available.

Secondly, what resolution are you playing at and what CPU do you have?

I don't game so much, I've just bought an Asus MX239, will be getting two more as they're awesome, i think the max resolution of the monitor is 1920x1080. I do play games but I use my rig for developing websites and running web based businesses. Multi monitor setup so I'll have a card running each monitor. Then the 9GB will be beneficial.

CPU is a FX8150 at 4.9Ghz.

That 8150 is going to have a hard time feeding 3 780gtx let alone 2. Ofcourse in depends on the game and it depends on what resolution you are aiming at in the long run. My own 8350 @ 4,5 is having issues with 2x7950 some times. Games like BF3, Company of Heroes 2 will tank the cpu long before the gpus are sweating. Ofcourse if you are aiming for a tripple monitor setup i could understand using 2 780 in sli, though the third seems like a waste.

Thanks, that answers my thoughts. I wanted Asus cards from the start since looking to upgrade from a few months back but the EVGA was a good price and ASUS were just getting more expensive. I'll move the EVGA on, there's a chap in another thread looking for a 780, and watercool the two I have.

I'm running a Crosshair V so getting ASUS GPU makes sense in my mind. I'm only going to game at 1920x1080.

that FX8150 is going to have a seriously hard time with that much GPU grunt.

Sell one of the 780's, invest in a good S1150/2011 i7 setup and enjoy 780 SLI at its most powerful.

one 780 per each monitor is a colossal waste of money. You only game on one so only using the actual benefit of it for one 1080p monitor while the other 2 cards sit there idling

you could join the monitors in surround, but i personally think that's a stupid idea too.

if you have 3 1080p monitors but game on one, sell 2 of the 780s. >.>

Gaming across 3 monors is excellent. Racing games look tremendous.

The plan was originally just to have one but then the two Asus cards came up cheap so I've ended up with three. I do need to buy an intel platform as I'm helping start a news and review site for all things gaming, PC and console. Less said about that that better, don't wanna be breaking the rules now. ;)

My main use for computer is web development and graphic design which is why I need a bit of GPU power. I intend to get a few intel bits just to review and get some personal experience with the kit. I don't have to buy it to play with it. :)

I don't play game though so all this talk about games is very secondary. I need a multi monitor setup that will handle the most graphic intensive design and development program's.

I would test it and see if it makes a big difference.
I m thinking of doing this at some point. As my 3 6970 are showing there ages abit now. I would say if you looking at surround gaming prob the only reason to keep 3.
Otherwise i don't think you would really see the difference other than in your wallet.

Like what? I work in a studio and most staff have 660ti/670s. Graphics intensive design software tend to need a lot of ram, but it depends on what programs for running.

Unity unreal

since you have 3 just put one 1 and see how it runs from the scorces i ve seen i think one would be more than enough.
My single 6950 running 3 1920*1080 screens all alright.
(mb in for rma do have 2 other 6950s)

There is no logical choice other than selling them all.

If you really want Nvidia then get a gt 650. That will output to three screens and comes with the tiny bit of GPU grunt that is most likely all that's needed to run your graphics design software.

Originally I was looking at 660TI as they overclock well by all accounts but I though that pointless for when I do want to play a game or to and there's no longevity. Perhaps, due to my old cards not being able to play games to well, I haven't. I'll see how I get on with one, benchmark all three and go from there.

2x780 for £800.00 is nice, I would pay this :)

I saw another pair of Asus Direct CUII GTX780 from Portugal sold 30seconds ago for £740.00.. but the seller has 0 feedback, so I didn't bid.

too good to be true.. the guy stated that 2x780 was too powerfull for him, so he went for a single 770, I don't trust this.

The guy I bought from is in Portugal on eBay with zero feedback. Paid via PayPal so if it is too good to be true, I'll get my money back. I saw that one also and thought the story was just a bit too fishy. At least the guy I've bought from has communicated well, his stories ring true and his listing was just 2 GTX780 brand new. End of. Lol.

Guess we'll see by the end of the week if I have them in my possession. My ideal scenario was two asus Gtx780 so that what I think I'll still with and move on the EVGA after testing it for noise and cooling.
