Noticed this patch on my TV - It is only in the bottom right hand corner and only seems to show on grey / solid colours? Any ideas what it is / can it be fixed?

It is a Samsung UE46B8000.

Thanks

It does not seem to be dying, have a google for "dark patch samsung tv" and you will see plenty of information on causes and possible cures.

It's more likely to be pressure marks affecting the uniformity of the screen. What that means in English is that the screws holding the frame on around the screen have loosened with temperature variations over time. So now there's a bit of the screen where the pressure is a little different.

Speaker magnets only affect CRT TVs i.e. there's no effect on plasma or LCD/LED sets because there's no electron beam to deflect or shadow mask (another CRT only feature) to deform. That's why plasmas and LCD/LED sets don't have a degauss coil and don't make that "dong" sound like CRTs when switched on.

Thanks mate I didn't know that, was just a thought when I saw the pic, Cheers for the correction. :)

Not got some external speakers close by have you ?

Erm. It's not a CRT!

A Creative sub woofer done this to mine. Used to sit directly below the TV to the right of the frame. Never appeared before until then. Took months for it to show.

It's co-incidence.

Magnetic fields from unshielded speakers do not affect TFT screens. I've got an old unshielded Mission 731 speaker next to a Panasonic LCD in the bedroom. No effect whatsoever, where the old CRT telly would have developed a purple patch.
