Don't know whether this belongs in here or the Audio section.

Recently purchased this graphic card, When I use the HDMI to connect my TV I have the picture, but I can not get the sound working.

Could it be because I have an adapter that goes from HDMI to DVI to Mini Display port as the 7970 has no HDMI slots. Does it even support HDMI audio?

I don't think it supports audio out at all, if it does it will be over the MDP, also if you have DVI somewhere in the cable loop, DVI can't afaik push audio, perhaps try MDP direct to HDMI?

Any news mate?

I just got my 7970 Lightning back and tried late last night to hook it up to my home cinema receiver (Denon AVR-1910) but alas, no sound.

I used a decent HDMI cable (black pearl) with a Cablesson mini-displayport - HDMI adapter and I have video but no audio!

I am on latest AMD Drivers (13.6?).

Would a mini displayport - HDMI cable do it or is this just fail?

I have a 5.1 system that I really want to use :(

Have you set default sound device?

Also i get sound issues sometimes if i havent put my tv on and on the channel before i turn my computer on.

Have you set default sound device

This.

I have a 1440p montior connected via dispaly port to my 7970 LTG and when I connect the TV via HDMI (using the supplied HDMI adaptor) to watch Sky Go I normally have to change the default sound device from my pc speakers to the TV/HDMI. Works fine, no issues at all.

You can change the default audio device to the AMD HDMI or if it is for just some programs like VLC, you can make only that program use it.

Well, I'm tearing my hair out tbh.

I uninstalled the AMD driver (as suggested) and managed to get sound (for a bit).

Unfortunately for starters its only 2 channel? It clearly states that only 2 channel is possible? *****?

The biggest headache though is that my receiver does NOT like it - its flashing the audio signal input constantly so the sound is dropping in and out all the time.

I tried plugging the mini displayport -> HDMI straight into my TV (bypassing the Denon AVR-1910) and I had constant sound but pops and clicks also?

To clarify, I work in pro audio so this really should not be a problem to troubleshoot but I have no idea what is going on with this...

All other sources on my home cinema receiver work flawlessly
