Fabregas will likely leave next summer, Man Utd probably just registering interest

I was kidding entirely with that post. I was just making up a ridiculous story to explain our continued lowball bidding for Fabregas. I can't understand what we are doing with low bids with seemingly little to suggest he wants to leave or they want to sell. Still, a boy can dream can't he.

Various papers running with the story that Suarez won't be going to the arbatriton court, and that the 'clause is Airtight'. £55million or no deal.

Papadopolous, rumor we want a loan deal with a view to a permanent move once were satisfied he is over his injury (£13 million).

We've also agreed a deal for the Benfica lb, loan.

He won't leave this summer, and if he wants to go next summer you'll most likely get priced out of it.

By Arsenal  but nah, Bayern or somebody

This maybe my defensive mechanism talking, if he joined Man Utd I'd find it difficult to take. However, he definitely belongs in England, his game thrives here, he is so good but something isn't right with him at Barca/in Spain, he just doesn't quite fit (he still scores loads and plays well, just isn't unplayable like he was here at times[apart from when he played vs Anderson{or Barcelona((does anybody remember a poster here who used to do this?))}])

Gareth Bale worth more than Ronaldo? Joke.

It's ridiculous isn't it. £85m is apparently the bid.

If you look at how Ronaldo performed and achieved in a truly world class side and then compare it to 1 good and 1 brilliant season for Bale and the price doesn't compute.

Both around 24 at the time of purchase by Real Madrid.

Real Madrid are just having to buy someone in response to Barcelona buying Neymar at what now seems like a bargain £49m.

You do get the weird purchases now and again, like the Zlatan deal.

Ronaldo had won the champions league, was World Player of the year and had a 42 goal season.

It's not even remotely close between himself and Bale who's won sweet **** all. He scored a few screamers in a 24 goal season, whoooppeeee ******* do. That does no equate to 85 million.

People seem to forget how crap the majority of the EPL were last year too.

The comparison is disrespectful to Ronaldo and what he'd achieved.

Thing is, it's not really about how good he is, it's about Madrid having to make an impressive signing because Barca signed Neymar like Muon said.

One thing I don't quite get though, Ronaldo and Bale can't both play Left midfield?

Bale is left footed so his ideal position should be on the right really.

Surely thats irrelevant as he has rarely (if ever) played on the right.

There must be a reason why at least three different managers havent played him on the right (and surely its a lot more than "because I already have a right -sided wide player")

Just out of interest more than anything else

Dont the Glazers have to pay about £50-60 million a year in interest frim the original loan they got to buy United. That is probably money that would have been spent on transfers.

Nothing like that any more, it was £31m but has been re-financed down to £21m /year according to the below:

http://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/may/23/manchester-united-cut-interest-costs

Given that Utd are also getting around £100m/season from the marketing operation alone - Utd shouldnt be worried about any reasonable transfer / wages.

While it wont kick in until next year, they have also just agreed the huge £60-70m a season shirt sponsorship deal with Chevrolet and Nike are in negotiations to renew the kit deal (which broke records 15 years ago when the current one was agreed for £330m ish).

Utd have always been ........"cagier"......than most for the majority of transfers, but its getting stupid now.

(edit - my bad Chevy deal is about $60m /£45m per season)

Why are you so angry?
Do you not think had Bale been at Utd for the last 3-4 years he would have won trophies?
You'd make an excellent England manager, pick players that have won loads for the top 4 clubs rather than pick players who are truly brilliant.

I seem to remember Bale on the right loads last season, he switched sides constantly during games.

Well I would still say his natural position is on the left, and the amount of minutes spent one side vs the other is vastly one sided.

Without a doubt, he is wasted on the right - ineffective for most of the time (compared to the left) and then will do something to make you remember he's on the pitch....like score

The Ronaldo transfer was just before the insane injection of cash European football received from sheikhs and oligarchs (bar abramovich). The inflation of transfer prices over the recent 3 seasons has been insane.

Bale is probably the best attainable football player in Europe (assuming the likes of messi, rvp, ronaldo , iniesta etc are unattainable). I dont think it is at all surprising or unreasonable for £85m+ to be the srlling price. The amount of cash spunked on players distinctly closer to good than excellent is nuts.

The Ronaldo transfer was a different era and always will be. The comparisons are misleading.
