If there was actual transfer stories people might change the topic, until then this the bale, Suarez and fabregas thread :p

There is barely anything going on this window! Thought Jose, would be doing a classic spending left, right and center :(
No other clubs interested in strengthening??

It sounds as if we're definitely making/have made a 3rd bid for Fabregas. Rumoured to be £35-40m. Unless all of the press are just regurgitating the Marca story.

i think to even tempt barce they need to make at least 40mil + addons, cant see why they would weaken there team for what £17.5 mil if that arsenal sell on thing is true

i still dont understand the arsenal sell on clause, say if barce was going to sell surely they could just get 30mil from arsenal ,and if they wanted 30mil from us we would have to offer 60mil because 30 would go to arsenal?

The press are just regurgitating the same old stories now. There is nothing to say we have made a third bid at the moment. Most places just seem to be making up "quotes" from the Barca players about him.

"Pique when interviewed has said that Fabregas will not leave Barca 100%"

"Pique has not seen Fabregas or spoken to him since the end of last season but is looking forward to getting back to training"

Starting to agree with DiCe here. Close the damn window and be done with it. I'm getting sick of the Suarez, Fabregas and Bale show and I would rather just get on with our season with the team we have.

I thought the arsenal thing just offered first refusal?

So... who's going to be taking the penalties and free kicks next season?

If it's Bale poor Ronaldo's only going to get the 50 goals, if it's Ronaldo will Bale even score?
*IF* Ronaldo is still there, Ronaldo will get penalties and free-kicks as priority with Bale likely being second option on FK's.

Much the same could have been said about RVP and we saw what happened there......

This is exactly my view on the whole thing, players we may have been looking at and priced at a certain level all of a sudden get £5-10m added on top by their team once they know we have the money to spend.

If Bale does go then I do feel we have the squad to replace him, however they will need to step up their game (Dembele/Holtby) and really make a contribution to the overall goal tally of the team.

Bale is the first midfielder that we have had for a long time that has actually scored a significant amount of goals, if it hadn't been for him, we would have been lost last season due to Defoe's dry spell after Christmas.

I don't want the season to start without any new midfield additions, even if it is Fellaini. Fellaini next to Carrick would be fairly good, especially when you consider Anderson and Cleverley tend to get injured. I think we might get Fellaini anyway, even if we do get another 'bigger name' midfielder in.

Some Italian press have said we've enquired about Marchisio today as well - http://www.corrieredellosport.it/se...rcato+Juve:+Manchester+United+su+Marchisio,+l

I think he could potentially be a very good signing. It's pretty obvious Moyes and the board will want a 'marquee' signing so we should give it every chance to materialise, even though it can be frustrating.

i keep reading they have some sort of sell on clause if barce sell they get half

I doubt it will be half of the total fee.

Everyone who has watched enough sci-fi will recognise that as a dud copy from a failed cloning program.

Even the BBC are on the bandwagon now:

Cesc Fabregas: Man Utd consider record bid for Barcelona midfielder

Manchester United have not given up hope of signing Cesc Fabregas and are preparing to make a third bid for the Barcelona midfielder - one that would exceed their £30.75m transfer record.

The Premier League champions have already had two bids, of £25m and £30m rejected, and been told the former Arsenal captain is not for sale.

But despite that, Fabregas remains a priority for new manager David Moyes.

The Spaniard would be open to a move to United should Barcelona accept the bid.

He was 30mil instead of 40-50mil BECAUSE we added the clause, Barca paid 15-20mil less upfront, on the assumption they would eventually pay that 15-20mil back to Arsenal if they sold the player on. WIthout the clause Fabregas would have cost north of 40mil... Barca don't lose out(well a bit, but they could have gained a lot assuming Fabregas would never leave) because they gained from the reduced fee upfront. Arsenal's risk is assuming he would leave again and getting more in total when he moves on.

Barca don't lose out with a 50% sell on clause, they have already gained because of the clause, giving half the fee to Arsenal merely puts them level with where they were before, they aren't "losing" anything.

BBC are as rubbish as everyone else, no quotes about Fabregas saying he's open to a move, because all the actual quotes from Cesc say quite categorically he currently does not in any way want to move. Quotes from everyone else but leave out the quotes available from Cesc because they don't fit their made up story. He has said all summer he is completely happy and would only reconsider his circumstances if the club actively told him to **** off. The club has actively said they do not in any way want him to leave.
